TL;DW is that for 1080p and 1440p the 6950 almost always beats or ties with the 3090 in the games tested, all recent AAA titles.
At anything below 4K the 6950 even beats the 3090Ti a good amount of the time at about half the price.

Thank you. Sorry I should have specified I’m gaming on a 32:9 monitor - so pretty much 4K!
 
I know this is the 6900XT/6950XT owners thread, 6950XT owner myself, But I have to say after going from a 5800X to a 5800X3D my average frame rate went up pretty sharply due to GPU usage going up, Beforehand I was seeing 40-50% GPU usage at 1080P, As I play on a 240Hz screen when doing stuff like Destiny 2, 6950XT and 5800X3D is 1 very nice match up ! :D

Far Cry 6, HD textures, Maxed out settings, The 6950XT + 5800X3D definitely give this game a good boost, A 22FPS boost on average, Pretty crazy considering the only difference is more cache.


And to keep the thread on topic I think I've tuned in a stable overclock now, Just over 2800MHz on the core, Stable in all benchmarks tried so far.

Really wish I could change to a 5800X3D, I just can't justify the cost when I currently have a perfectly fine 9900K. Unless I could sell the CPU + MOBO, that is.

Maybe if a 6800X3D is in the works I'll grab one to go with my 6950XT

The latest rumour is that a 7800X3D is due at the very end of this year, possibly even a lower SKU too (the 6000 series naming is used for mobile chips, in the same way as the 4000 series was, hence they're skipping it. I wonder what AMD will do to avoid confusion between gfx cards and CPUs for this gen!).

The 5800x3D had the correct price 26th June, £335.97 (price mistake). A few lucky people got shipped too. Considering the 5800x can be had for £261.07 currently new.

Honestly with cost of living shooting through the roof i.e Food, Gas, Water, Electricity, Rent, Fuel, National insurance, Tax etc.... I can see the PC market slowing down quite drastically in the coming years, Only the privileged few will be able to afford £500 CPU's and £1000 GPU's.

Agreed. Also, having a GPU/CPU that chugs a ton of power certainly does not help at the moment with rising costs of energy.

I've undervolted my 6950 XT and 5800X3D, can see the difference on my Smart Meter at the end of the day.

Same, I have the 5800X3D running at just over 1 volt completely stable which also lowered the temp by a fairly sizeable amount.

I also limit frames in my main game, Final Fantasy, To 60 to keep power usage down which also keeps temps nice and low and inturn keeps the system nice and quiet.
