The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

it's horrible, it starts off like a mid cold but the sysmtoms get worse, i've had whole body shivers, Diarrhea, horrendous coughing, runny noise, wild temprature's and most recently today woke up and had trouble breathing for around a 1hr, very weasy and gasping, still have a bad cough but my head is full of cold, its really not fun and i'd not wish it on anyone, see what tommorow brings. i hope to get better as my isolation as above should end on Sunday but who knows
at least ur not in hospital in an ICU ward
but i suppose being young enables u to beat if off better than the older gen

if your just counting the rasterization performance of both gpus then it's too close to call, amd have really closed the gap with there new generation gpu's, however if you care about dlss or ray tracing the 3090 wins hands down, hell even the 3080 is a beast with those freatures enabled.

in older games the diffrence fps wise is 2-5% in favor of team green but at the cost of massive power draw (3090), if you dont care for dlss or ray tracing i'd opt for the cheaper 6800xt as that has the best of both worlds (price and performance)

regarding the 6900xt and RT the only game i have tried is death stranding and i can confirm that dlss and RT are greyed out in the options in that game, almost as if it knows there is not capable gpu running, i do have hdr and tbh i cant tell much diffrence between the 2 cards, basically it looks soo good regardless.

i just wish my 6900xt worked, still will find out soon and if so i may need to reinstall windows as looking online it could be a kernal issue in my case, for now my 3090 fe at 4k is working as intended :)
theres a big sign on the 6900xt boxm Hardware raytracing, whats that suppose to mean then....

dont get me wrong amd has there own implementation of RT it just a shame it dosnt return a performance uplift ulike the nvidia 3000 series gpu's do, if the amd gpu's could to the same as thier counterparts then the race would be soo much closer and amd would have come out on top wiping the floor with the 3080, and 3090 and do it at a cheaper price, still 1 out of 2 aint bad, amd has the crown when it comes to price (exclude the scalpers and price hikes of recent months)

Going back to my previous question regarding BFV and drivers, the current ones only give me a gpu clock speed of 1417 mhz while playing? no wonder my fps isnt too high in this game?

Any ideas on how to fix this please?

in BFV my 5900x cpu cores average 89%

my average fps which is what it mainly sits at is 120 fps but goes as low as 90 at times

Overclock it - or more specifically play around with minimum clocks in Wattman to see if it helps.

I am consuming as much 6900XT material as possible as mine has just arrived at home, but I am in the office.

Pro tip guys, don't pour mackerel oil on a 1080ti, it doesn't end well.

Ok i have sorted this now, ive set under global tuning to lowest of 2400 and set the max to what it was boosting too on its own which was 2519.
Now BFV uses the lowest setting of 2400 and im getting far better fps of 230-240.
I set the memory to fast as well in the tuning area, not touched voltages or any extra OC yet.
As that stands now im getting better frame rates than when was on the 3090 with the added bonus for me of far less crashes (Nvidia drivers)

Also gpu temp on BFV is still good @ 66 and 77 hotspot

Thanks for the pointer, i had no idea the AMD drivers had built in tuning been a while since i was team red :)

Did a quick and dirty 1125mv 2600core/2112Mem Fast timings last night. Got to 19500 or thereabouts on Timespy Graphics score. Should be fairly easy to get over 20k! Will play more tonight. Core temps around 70 and Junction 80-90.

Awesome!!! Love what you’ve done with the mba card! Must have taken nerves of steel to put the water block on! Bet it overclocks like a mofo.. were you worried about voiding the warranty?

It's not my first waterblock on new card rodeo! But yes, it's always a bit nerve racking holding breath on the first boot after doing it!

How is everyone's system stability in windows with these cards? Mine has got a bit crash/freeze-y, particularly in chrome. I've disabled chromes hardware acceleration and been ok since?

Glad to hear it's going well. :)

Duly noted, thanks for the tip.

I paid £972 for my 6900 XT Merc.

If you are wondering why it was so cheap, it was a EX-Display model so three month warranty with the retailer and the rest with the AIB after that.

When it arrived it still had all the protective film on it, so it didn't appear to have been used but can't obviously guarantee that.

Sold my 6900 XT MBA for £1065, having paid £1070 for it.

Pretty happy with that overall.

With all that said and done, I hope i don't see stock of the Liquid Cooled version anytime soon because i know i will be temped by it. :p

3 month warranty for a grand? **** that.

xfx are allegedly a nightmare to deal with for rma, one of the reasons they're not sold on here anymore.

Here's hoping it doesn't die. :p

I shall let you know how they are if i ever have to use the service. I am not put off by the fact they are not sold on OcuK tbh.

Anyone got the liquid Asus ROG Strix one? It looks a bit of a beast from HUB videos and charts.

Juuuuuuuust about hitting 2.8Ghz with mine with a little tweaking of the power usage via MPT, those guys *really* had a golden sample because this one isn't bad at all!!

Have it running lovely atm, silent and pretty much 2.8Ghz :)

I'm going to start mining cryptocurrencies and I wonder if this xfx radeon rx 6900 xt graphics card works. I have read various opinions on the internet about it, and I have mixed feelings.
