“No i didn’t, once i bought one (a reference 6800XT), i though well, other people had you know..had better clock speeds than me and were posting on the forum about it and it just started to get out of control from there”

Interviewer: “and what happened then?”

“i started buying more cards, i don’t know why, 6900s, custom, reference, i bought so many that i even started to decorate my walls with them and at £1200 each, things started to get out of hand again. when my wife found out we couldn’t afford to pay the gas bill whilst i was posting a meme on OCUK about my reference 6900XT card being a fireplace ornament that’s when we knew i had to seek help again.....”

Lol. The thing is, I'm not even the worse offender. I can think of many regulars here that have bought more high end GPUs in a short space of time than me. I shouldn't name drop, but i will a couple off the top of my head... @djay - @Too Tall - @JediFragger - @Jumper118.

Those guys have had more 6000 and 3000 series GPUs than I've had hot dinners.

I've certainly had a lot. Had the same card for a while now though. Settled on the 6900 XT Red Devil LE.

To be honest I only replaced my last MERC 6900XT as I was worried about your @LtMatt health. I don't like to see grown men cry, especially not over benchmark scores :D He has long reigned as No1 on the Firestrike Extreme Leaderboard so when I took his place and beat him into submission, a little part of me did feel sorry for him.

It was when I went top (After winning the silicon lottery) I noticed Matt started to buy even more 6900XT's in a bid to get back that No1 Spot. I was concerned for his well being so when I saw his post in the wanted section calling for another 6900XT I thought enough is enough, I will sell him mine, I didn't want to see him continually buying the same card over and over again so he can try to reclaim that top spot it's not fair. If I let him have mine, he will get back to No1 easily then we will all be able to sleep easier knowing that @LtMatt can stop purchasing 6900XT's and let someone else get one!

I felt for his family, what they must be going through as he drops another £1200 on another subpar 6900XT in the quest to dethrone DJay. I did what was right for everyone, I sold him mine. Please don't contact me directly thanking me for doing this, I don't want thanks, I just know it was the right thing to do.

So............... When he sits on top of that leaderboard again, I can hear the victory speech.

"I would just like to thank DJay for making this happen, without him I would be forever buying 6900XT's whilst only being 2nd best!"

All jokes side, we are also providing a service. We are able to get these cards into the hands of gamers for RRP. We could easily be putting these up on a certain auction site and scalping, so it's not all bad.

BTW, you also missed off @Metalface Mark as that boy has probably had more 6000 and 3000 GPU's than all of us put together!!

How are you guys even managing to obtain so many cards?! I'm looking to upgrade from a 6800XT to either a 6900XT or a 3090. Whichever becomes available first really!

There are pretty regular drops of them on a couple of certain uk retailers, but they don't last too long. Anywhere from minutes to half an hour from what I've seen.

I've managed to buy 1x 6800 XT and 2x 6900 XT, so they are available if you have the patience and time to sit monitoring alerts or refreshing retailers online stores.

Sadly most people can't do this and the crazy demand for anything graphics means they are snapped up so quickly it looks like there is never any stock drops.

It is what it is. :(

I think you just have got to be willing to place loads of pre-orders or, pay the £1,300 scalper entry fee.

I paid:

£600 for the 6800 XT
£1070 for the 6900 XT
£972 for B Grade Merc
£1250 for Merc
£1200 for Djays Merc.

I would not be comfortable spending any more, even £1250 is too much tbh. But i really wanted this particular GPU and the performance is so fast that for me it is worth it. I can justify the cost for a hobby, but YMMV.

Just goes to show what a great buy the 6800 XT was at £600.

Yeah I'm using Discord for alerts (this is how I managed to snag a 6800XT) but looking at the history for the 6900XT, the last drop was 22nd Jan. Perhaps I need a better stock drop channel? Currently using UK Stock Alert

Part Alert & Stockping I found to be the best ones.
