Guys 6700 xt or 3070? which is better for gaming?

Well you can't play doom eternal on a 3070 it doesn't have enough vram lol. I looked it up yesterday, R9 390 was 8gb 6 years ago June 2015. Nvidia took another 2 years to launch the gtx 1070 with 8gb. So going by that, Nvidias next set of cards will have enough vram for modern AAA titles.

They are pretty even, 3070 perhaps a couple of FPS faster. I prefer the 6700 XT with the extra video memory capacity. I had trouble with 8GB before so would never go back to that.

The only issue is current pricing. The 3070ti is listed at £529 at 2pm today though at the company with royal appointment.

Yeah if it's actually available at that price then its a no brainer tbf. 6700 XT is still overpriced at this time.

The last time I saw live stock of the 3070 at ocuk they where £1189 Vs around £799 for a 6700xt. Neither are terrible only the price lol.

Well if the 3070 is £1189 then I'd rather have a 6700 XT, but yeah both over priced at that cost.

You can easily get 6700xt for £720 online because the stock have improved. I will try my best to get 3070 FE at launch or get myself a 6700 XT

That gigabyte 6700xt isn't much cop as I've used one in a build and it's got tiny 80mm fans. If you can get a 3070ti for £600 go for it! I have pics from when the 3080ti vaporized last week. Never saw a buy button!

Highly impressed with my Merc 319 6900XT The clocks and temperatures are incredible. Still can't believe how much smoother games look and feel over my old 3090 FE.

Hmm, That shouldn't be the case considering how close both GPUs are in terms of performance, Was it some Nvidia driver thing with this game ?

Numbers in reviews dont allways give the full 'picture' of how a game actually plays.

That gigabyte 6700xt isn't much cop as I've used one in a build and it's got tiny 80mm fans.

I've also used one and found it to be v quiet during gaming, maybe your case cooling is lacking a little?

Agreed, fps can be good but frametimes bad which leads to a mixed experience overall.

It's just a £500 card been sold for £720+. The case had 6* 140mm fans so all good there. 80mm fans just have to spin at higher rpm to shift the same airflow as 90-100mm fans. The card is fine it's middle of the road in the 6700xt lineup in my eyes.

And curious if its just particular games you had issues with on the 3090fe?

Got no AMD card to compare myself, but so far haven't encountered any stutters / issues on the games I have played.

That's not true for quality reviews anymore though. Frametimes stability is one of the main things present in good quality reviews.

Go watch Jayztwocents 6900 XT oc video, he mentions AMD being smother on that video

My Sapphire Nitro+ 6900 XT build (i7-11700K) is most definitely quieter than my son’s MSI GFT 3090 build (R9 5950).

But both cards seem to play very smoothly with stable fps. In several games I get better frame rates than him including Forza Horizon which I run the most, but once you get into games that require a DLSS to use Ray tracing with good fps, like Cyberpunk 2077, the 3090 is a beast.
