The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Did you get the XTX or the XTXH version? If you have 1.2v available in Radeon Software it's the latter.
Curious to know what temperatures you get on Edge and Junction under heavy load with power limit at +15%.

Not sure what Edge temperature is but on Port Royal it was GPU temp 74c and hit 100c on Junction with +15% @ 350W (1.2v showing in settings)
Without +15% on it maxed at 87c Junction 70c GPU temp.

Which gave me an extra 200 points over default.

I don't have hard numbers but I can definitely tell the 6900xt is quieter that the 3090 FE.

So far its quieter than the 3080FE too.

Hmm, That shouldn't be the case considering how close both GPUs are in terms of performance, Was it some Nvidia driver thing with this game ?
I've heard a few say before that they found games looking more vibrant in terms of colour and sharper with AMD cards compared to Nvidia. I've never had a green card personally but I do find that when Nvidia users are posting screenshots of their games, that they look a bit soft. Perhaps that is because of DLSS or maybe the Radeon Image Sharpening function in the AMD drivers makes the games look much crisper...

It wasn't big enough for my case! I had to prop mine up a bit...

he he

I tried a spot of Undervolting - 1150mv, 2100mhz Mem, 2400mhz Max GPU clk - only dropped 85 points in Port Royal yet

256w was the most I saw
70c GPU Temp (average 66c)
80c Junction

quite impressed might tinker a bit more.

Also tried Days Gone which made my 3080FE run hot upto 80c and this maxes at 77c (stock) and also the fans are quieter.

Wasn't this game it was every game.

Go watch Jayztwocents 6900 XT oc video, he mentions AMD being smother on that video
Jayztwocents has no credibility for most people who are in the know of GPU stuff. Looking at some of the reviews which have frametime analysis present, modern AMD and Nvidia cards are about the same with some trade-offs here and there. Could be a system-specific issue or a placebo. BTW, I have an RX 6900 XT so not trying to diss AMD here, just don't find this info plausible except for certain scenarios.

I think there was a discussion on HU about this. This is just a case of a certain default palette being used by either company. GPUs from both companies are capable of producing the same colour output. AMD does not enable RIS by default in drivers as per my knowledge.

2400MHz is a bit low for the caliber of card that you have. You are definitely missing out on around ~5-7% performance vs max OC possible on these cards (taking about actual games). But I get that you might want a quieter card.

Yeah Days Gone does make GPUs run hot no idea why.

This is my 24/7 profile, core clock around 2350Mhz in game.

This allows for a big undervolt (GPU voltage around 0.950v as displayed in HWINFO64 under load) from 1.175v. Reduces power draw, temp and fan speed significantly to the point that 1200 RPM is plenty to keep temps in check.

I dont think its dropping any performance in games. Plus the 85 point different in Port Royal suggests performance is not dropping off that much. Only tried Days Gone as I just completed it so its a good benchmark and I know it heavily taxes the GPU. I was getting around 2400-2450mhz around 100fps with my junction hitting 86c but after the undervolt I`m still getting 100fps but around 2350mhz GPU with junction 77c. Its not quieter that I`m after its cooler whilst maintaining at least same level of noise.

Strange thing is 3080fe I was getting 120-140fps. Probably an Nvidia optimised game.

Very interesting I will have a play later

It’s a UE4 game, engine massively favours green. Great game though I am hooked on it.

yeah only 2nd game this year Ive been going to bed really late as playing it so thats my sign of its a good game. Has its faults but its that "just another ten minutes".
Took me 44hrs to complete and Ive only got Hordes to clear which I can do really easily now. Stopped playing it as much but keep dipping in to try and get the second ending
to kick in but its still not doing it. Not sure why.

Just been playing Metro Exodus Enhanced - now obviously this GPU should be able to eat up every current game, but wow how pretty this is. Not 60Hz with all the raytracing on at 3440x1440 but plenty playable at 45+ with loads of bells and whistles.
