Isn't that game super demanding? And it has a ton of detail and graphics options.

I thought people were running it with DLSS /upscaling to get good framerates at higher resolutions?

There's some 2021 GPUs struggling to play at 1080p Ultra here:

I'd guess that 1080p Ultra ought to be possible on a RX 7900 XT for this title. Upscaling should allow higher resolutions.

The GPU utilisation can still reach 100% even at 1080p (60 FPS), just because of the amount of graphical details that are loaded on Ultra. The game engine can load a ton of detail over long distances.

Try DX11 and DX12 to see how it affects performance.

They discuss it in the video below. The 7800X3D is getting 1% lows of >60 FPS, but the 13900K is struggling. Some interesting results, and fairly consistent across resolutions.

I signed up for a Game pass 1 month trial and decided to give AC:Odyssey another go with my new GPU.

The benchmark results are looking really good:

GkwMLdZ.jpg

My last GPU (RTX 3070) struggled with this title on pretty much any settings I tried.

Settings - 4K + Ultra preset, full screen mode, Windows 11 OS. The bottleneck seems to be on the CPU side (judging by the max CPU latency of 15ms), interestingly. I guess this is an example of where DX12 might improve performance further?

One thing I noticed is that the game doesn't like FPS caps much. Here, I had my cap set at 200 in Rivatuner. You can set a cap of 70, and the FPS dips aren't too bad, at least it didn't affect the 1% lows.

Maybe I'll give Valhalla a go if it goes onto Gamepass.

Has anyone else tried this game with a RX 7900 XT or XTX, and if so, does the game run well?

I've put nearly 100 hours into AC Valhalla it looks lovely. The big but is that it needs a few things doing to stop it crashing a lot. The threads are full of crash rage rants but once you do a couple of things its fine. Its bad on Nvidia and intel aswell cheers UBI soft. This what I do to stop the crashing from bitter expierience.
1. Cap fps to 75.
2. World clutter to high or medium.
3. Delete cache directorys before every game in ACV folder in documents.
4. In advanced AMD driver options reset shader cache before every game.
5. Even if you have the steam version launch it from UBIsoft connect.

I've also got a silly undervolt and frequency cap on this game so the card sips juice.

Its true the drivers do get better and better with age. I'm sure theres still untaped performance.

A significant amount of just a couple of percent? The performance gap between 6000 and 7000 top end cards isn't that big at the moment.

But it is better (7900xt) for RT which is at 3090 level.

Also don’t forget there might be chance FSR 3.0 will lock out 6950xt etc. They seem to be following everything Nvidia is doing so don’t be surprised.
