The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Had some time to play with the Reaper XT for the first time today. Seems a great card and really like the adrenalin software. It's my first AMD card and I'm impressed. Very quiet and cool! I plan to upgrade to 4K, my 7600x is holding it back a little @1440p, should be a very solid 4K card

Seems price gouging is not limited to GPU's. Looking for a nice 4k oled to go with my new 9070 XT, AOC AG326UD seems the best value.
Most sites charging over £100 more than one big retailer :(
They have a long wait, but in no hurry so ordered. Dont give in to the gougers!

Reaper 9070XT installed today, really like the black, simple look

Need to mess about with fans though because it's much louder than the 4070s that it replaced. Are 3 fans generally louder than 2? I would guess so but then surely you can run them lower to reduce noise

Mine replaced a twin fan 3070. XT a little louder than that, but can still hardly hear it and my case fans are pretty quiet.

Not necessarily. The general logic is that three fans move more air than two fans thus they shouldn't have to spin as fast to move the same amount of air.

However some fans are just louder than others. My Sapphire Pulse 9070 has two 100mm fans and they're more or less silent.

Will have to have a play and see what's happening.

I'm trying to use fan control to map them but I don't think the software can recognise the GPU yet. So might have to do it in adrenaline which is annoying since fan control manages the case fans!

Got my 9070XT Nitro+ today.

At first I thought my old HAF-X was not gonna take it and would have to get a new case. Eventually managed to get it in carefully at a slight angle. The full tower HAFX looks small with this thing inside it. Cables look messy but the case is under my desk so no ones really going to see them.
The old 3080FE looks tiny next to the Nitro+.

It wasn't straight forward for me using fan control app. Moving from a 7900xt, once I'd redetected new GPU the 9070xt fans wouldn't stay in sync until I toggled things on and off.

Can't remember what I did to get it working but think I eventually deleted everything related to GPU control, curves etc. and recalibrated a couple of times.

How do you think the support bracket feels? Mine seemed a bit wonky, might try and reseat it tomorrow?

Looks like the Reaper is quite a popular card, lovely simple design.
If memory serves the Reaper is also a 2-slot card isn't it? So that probably makes it more popular with people with SFF cases. Last gen I was looking for a smaller card and it was really hard to find anything above the 4060/7600 level.

Nice to see a fellow optical drive enjoyer!

Can I ask what made you choose the Nitro+ as I was recently trying to decide between the Pulse/Pure and Nitro+ myself but came down on the side of the Pulse/Pure as it was slightly smaller since nobody (including me most of the time) will see it the RGB and hidden cable wouldn't offer me much benefit (in fact routing the power cables behind the motherboard tray may actual cause me issues), so it'd really only be the higher TDP. Or perhaps I don't want to know as it's cheaper if I go for the Pulse/Pure! :)

I got it for £684.99 preorder just a few days after launch from a rainforest. Expected date was 22nd April but amazingly it arrived in less than 10 days. Was planning to cancel the preorder if OCUK sold the Pulse for near msrp but they bumped prices up to £650 instead. I think paying £35 more for a Nitro was a better deal in comparison. However, I would not pay more than £700 for one.

If I were you I'd just get the cheapest card possible. The OC AIB cards make no difference to performance. A pulse can get over 3300MHz just be underclocking and my Nitro+ gets the same. Cannot push past 3370MHz no matter what.

was toying with a 14600k OR 9700XT but no hurry

Yeah, they were at that price again today, that's why I was trying to decide, but I have a Pure on pre-order for £634.99 but it's not due until the end of April. Didn't know whether to stick with that or go for a Nitro+ (which wouldn't fit in all my cases).

I think the price from £635 to £685 is a bit much.

You could always remove the heasink and run the nitro with the die exposed, it's quite a small card without the HSF :D

Even with my Stacker, a huge case I have around 2cm clearance, so if cards get any bigger I'd have to go into the 5.25" bay area, I think I have around 51-55cm space for a GPU..if they get that big...getting a bit stupid and OTT

Did exactly this when I got mine last week, swapped from 1440p to 4k and it really is a great 4k card.

I recommend that you stick with the Pure. I reckon you will get it in the next couple of weeks. The Nitro+ and other cards are at their max inflated price right now. They will probably come down in a months time.

The cheaper cards can hit similar peak clocks but cant sustain them as well. The GPU temp, VRAM temp and power limit make a difference to the average clock rate which is always higher on the premium cards due to better cooling solutions, higher power limits and usually better binned chips that require less voltage to attain those speeds. The max speed doesn't dictate the overall performance as most cards can't sustain it due to the above factors.
