while there is talk of them being a new company
It's a bit more than talk.

they most certainly are not a new club.
In the eyes of their fans (and most non-fans as well) they still have all of the history of the old Rangers team.
However, from a legal point of view, they dont have any history. They are a new club who have not played a single game and they have never been part of the league setup. They have no more right (arguably less) to join the league as any of the other clubs who want to join.
Obviously, it would be ridiculous for Rangers not to be involved in the SFL at all and i'm sure it will not be allowed to happen, but you can't say that the complaints from Spartans is "nonsense". They have a perfectly valid argument for taking up any vacant position in the league system left by the exit of Rangers.

Is it just Div 1 that vote or do all 30 clubs get a vote.

I can imagine that Div 2 and 3 clubs don't see much of the tv/sponsorship money and having Rangers visit twice will be a big occasion for them.

People have stated that Rangers travelling support will be low this will probably be the case but I'm sure for teams in Div 2 and Div 3 which make up 2/3s of SFL teams the novelty of having Rangers visit will draw a huge home support much like the cup games do.

If it's div 1 clubs only who knows how this vote will go but with all 30 clubs and only a simple majority I don't fancy the vote going for div 1.

For me it should be Div 3 that way despite some lost revenue the Scottish game can hold it's head up and say that it did the "right" thing by the game.

All this nonsense of spartans etc is just that nonsense. They have never been part of the league set up like Rangers and while there is talk of them being a new company they most certainly are not a new club.

It'll be all 30 clubs who get a vote so the boards are hoping there are more clubs they can scare with the talk of financial meltdown. However, 10 have already come out against Rangers going into the first so we'll likely see a vote for SFL membership and against first division. Hopefully then the boards will take a hint and resign.

I think Rangers should be in third as it's the only fair way to treat a newco, especially with all the other clubs waiting for years to get in due to the problems with entering the league. It should also mean fewer or no other punishments since it's a newco though the SFA want Rangers to accept punishments of the oldco as part of the membership agreement.

What annoys me more is the offer of league changes not including proper reconstruction and it's only come in via Rangers' demise to save the SPL finances. After all the fuss when the report came out nothing has changed and fans won't go anywhere near a SPL2.

Some bits from the papers today....

Berwick Rangers director Callum Porteous warns fellow Division Three clubs it is a "fantasy" to believe they would make substantial financial gains from having newco Rangers in the bottom tier - due to increased stewarding and policing costs.

Annan Athletic Chairman Henry McLelland says the threat of having Scottish Premier League money withdrawn will not force Annan into voting newco Rangers into Division One.

Then this should happen....

Newco into Div 3, Dundee take place of Club12 on fixutre list.
Doncaster and Regan resign
One new governing body established.
Debate on proper reconstuction and changes for 2013/14 season

Oh goody from Rangers trying to refuse the transfer of their old players who rejected new co contracts.

brian mclauchlin ‏@BBCBMcLauchlin
Rangers have refused International clearance for the transfers of Davis, Lafferty, Ness, Whittaker and Naismith. more soon

and

brian mclauchlin ‏@BBCBMcLauchlin
The players new club request clearance from their own FA. They contact SFA who request OK from club. This has been refused by Rangers.

Not impressed one of the Rangers companies (old or new, probably doesn't matter much which one) are trying to pretend they have rights to transfer fees now and wasting everyone's time/money with more nonsense like this.

lol@ Callum..

Is he honestly saying it costs as much to police a capacity crowd as they make in ticket sales?

Average crowd for Berwick was 400 like I said a couple of posts ago they can expect 4000 for the home ties against rangers (novelty factor), an increase of 1000%.

Will the police and stewards charge more than they can make from the gates and refreshments, if this is the case then something is clearly wrong.

The problem for the SFA is that now FIFA will be forced to get involved with dealing with the issue of TUPE and might get involved with Rangers now whereas previously FIFA wanted to keep it internal. Could be another can of worms neither want when the votes are coming up.

I assume it'll depend on how many will bother with travelling to the wee grounds every other week after being used to the quality stadiums of the SPL (or any boycotts going on). There's also the infrastructure (or local pubs to police) to worry about as to whether the local area would deal with the extra fans turning up when they're used to small crowds.

Everyone could have just said "yeah they don't have to be Rangers players if they don't want to be in the new-co, that's what can happen when you do that nonsense" and saved more time wasting hassle.

Glad we kicked Rangers out the memorial cup for not looking like they will turn up with a team, just more belly aching for the inevitable. If it gets really bad running to the EU will clarify the blinding obvious that they were free agents, just needs some people in authority to actually do their jobs and hurry this nonsense up.

Might, if he can stay off the bottle. Looks like there is going to be a messy argument over the players that left. Really don't see how Rangers can have any say over them if their contracts died with the oldco?

Desperastion by Rangers by the sound of it. If the oldco died then legally it is surely up to the player whether he wants to transfer his contract to the newco. Green can bluster all he wants but he doesn't have a legal leg to stand on.

Yep, it's just a monster waste of time and money (that doesn't exist in the old co anyway). Green thinks he has precedent because the mess that is Coventry cannot afford to pay any legal fees if it comes to it for Fleck so made a sell on clause, but legally Rangers are entitled to nothing.

I severely doubt the new co have even been able to honor the new contracts with the players that stayed anyway, making this whole event an exercise to make the SFA look stupid (which is working).

Apparently the SFL clubs will have two votes now. One on whether Rangers will be allowed back in(No Brainer) and another for which Div they will go into. Be interesting to see how many succombe to the bullying and scare stories. Quite a few have said £rd or nothing.
