Rangers are now saying they expect that the SPL2 option to happen and that they will be part of it and Division 1 clubs will be invited to join it from the SFL.

Hopefully no one would join. A league of 1 :p

EDIT: Been tweeted that:

WARNING. Club chairman "Everyone in that room heard that Stewart Regan informed Charles Green that there's no way "Rangers" will be in D3 .

That's hilarious. Almost every club votes to have The Rangers (that's the name now, deal with it) Football Club in D3, then the SFL goes out and tells everyone to go **** themselves with the intention to form a new SPL with The Rangers naturally being invited.

I hope Scottish Football crash and burn. Surely FIFA needs to intervene by now.

It's the SFA and SPL that have intentions of an SPL2.. The SFL have firmly voted that Rangers should be in Division 3.

I actually have Rangers fan friends who are saying they hope other clubs go out of business as a result of this.

I really cannot understand that attitude at all, your team no longer exists and it's a new club and company. As it's a whole new club you have to reapply to enter the league. Why is this anyone else's fault other than your own club?

Really baffles me.

BBClive said:
Rangers, on the club website, said they faced an "uncertain" future.

The club added: "Now understood that on the back of a briefing SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster and SFA counterpart Stewart Regan gave to clubs last week that the SPL will introduce a plan for SPL 2 - which would include Rangers - and invite existing Division One members to join."

End of Scottish football if this happens....

What I don't understand is that my Rangers friends all claim that Rangers will be straight back into the Premiership in 3 years no problems at all. However, surely the total lack of money will prevent them from actually bringing in any substantial talent (or keep who they have, contract issue withstanding) and it's perfectly reasonable to suspect that they may struggle?

Why is that hard to believe?
Several people in this thread have expressed a similar view.

Saying I'm a Gers fan and want other clubs to go is not the same as saying

I have a friend who says troll troll troll.

I don't want any club to fold but if they do they choose not to allow gers into the SPL it's their choice.

Like others say there are plenty of clubs wanting senior status I won't shed a tear if any do go down the pan.

They won't need millions to buy a team that could get through the Scottish lower leagues. They will have enough money through gate receipts alone to build a team easily capable of getting into the SPL in 4 seasons at the very most.

And thats your opinion.
A lot of Rangers fans, however, are quite explicity stating that they want to see many of the struggling clubs go bust (that includes people who have already posted similar in this thread).

I dont understand why some of them think like that and i expect that Neutralmilk doesnt either and that's why he has posted about it, rather than any attempt at trolling.

I believe the notice required to resign from the SFL is 2 years. Is the forming of SPL2 going to make any difference?

Aye but you are forgetting they are the people. I also have to laugh at these part time accountants who think the mighty gers will steam role through the lower leagues with there huge financial backing. Bit hard when nobody is buying season tickets, and the novelty of standing out in the ******* rain might wear off come november when they host the mighty stranraer.

I'm not here to troll at all, I just don't understand that view that is all. No trolling attempted or intended so I'm sorry if it came off that way.

Surely Rangers hosting Stranraer would be held at Ibrox hence no standing in the rain? At a very conservative estimate, they should still be able to get 10,000 fans to each match which would still give them the largest budget outside the SPL by a very long way. Plus they would still be one of Scotland's most well known clubs and therefore able to attract better sponsorship than "the mighty Stranraer"

Confirmed, Rangers would need a vote of 66% of SFL clubs to allow them to resign from the SFL before the two years is up so it'll be at least that before SPL2 can happen. I doubt many will go for it given the strength of vote amongst member clubs against the first division.

I said the novelty would have worn off by the time they hosted Stranraer. There would be plenty of games in the rain before and after ;).

And the highest running costs, ibrox can't be cheap to run.

As above.

Its just the idiots running the SFA / SPL that need to crash and burn. Overpaid spineless ***** that cant make a decision, and as soon as the decision is made for them they want to change things again. Absolute joke, Doncaster and Regan should walk for the sake of the game.

Doubt FIFA would get involved to be honest, they're too busy passing out brown envelopes and just as corrupt.

I would tend to agree with your friends on Rangers going straight back up to the SPL in 3 years time. Livingston, when they were relegated to Div 3 raped the 3rd division, pretty much walked the 2nd and are now consolidating themselves in the first. The difference with Rangers is, albiet now farcical, they will still be seen the team that footballers want to aspire to playing for (biggest team in Scotland) along with Celtic and to a lesser extent, Hearts and Dundee Utd. So they could probably put a few results together with younger players (we've had u19s on loan from a variety of SPL clubs and they walk the games) at the lower couple of leagues then when they're into the 1st they can attract a better quality player to compete / win the league / get the promotion spot ;) and within 3 years they'd be back where they started.
