The real Mo Farah (or not...)

If we take his name out of it, it shows how weak our system is that its giving legal documents to people it hasn't fully checked out.

I noticed the article says the home office isn't going to take any action. Well, they should take action in having him explain the full details of how he became legal.

He was a pretty middling athlete prior to working closely with Alberto Salazar then his performances went off the charts between 2011-2017, outside these years he was mainly back to middling. You could argue those would be his highest performing years anyway, but its his constant shutting down any questions about it that does it for me.

In terms of this new revelation, what was the purpose of keeping it quiet for 30 years? After being knighted 10 years ago he surely didn't think he was going to get deported. For me, there are just more questions than answers about the man.

It seems the OcUK savages are out early for blood today

I found it amusing that here a moderator freely uses the term "savages" yet when I used the internationally commonly used abbreviation for Japanese people, similar to saying Brits instead of British, it was deleted with a curt instruction to not use "racial slurs". An abbreviation I have used daily over umpteen forums for many years, even directly to Japanese customers themselves, with narry a comment. Neither term causes me any personal soul searching whatsoever, but the disparity here hit me as obvious :)

I asked Google if "savages" was considered a racial slur (by the easily offended...) :

and how do you expect him to do that when he was a child when all that occurred?
How much do you remember from when you were 16?

Surely you can tell the difference between using something that could be offensive when referring to Japanese people and using a generic insult that wasn't directed at a group that might find it insulting based on their race. Savages has racial overtones if you were referring to a group of black people. If you are just referring to a generic group of mixed people then it has no racial implications at all.

Back on topic, Mo rocked a cracking 'fro in his younger days.

1) He's 39 now. He says he came here when he was 9. So that was in 1992. Perhaps things have changed a bit since then.
2) He married to a British national in 2010. So he is also now a British citizen regardless of his past. That's probably why they aren't taking any action; he's now a British citizen for real.

Give it a rest, I think @fez has summed it up well enough.

3) He has actually contributed to British society rather than just raged about it in the Daily Mail comments

Don't know the ins and outs of the law, but seems odd that his coach would have knowingly assisted him in applying for citizenship under a false name. Surely both of them risked criminal consequences if that came out... Or is it that if they used his correct name Mo would have been deported for entering the country under a false name? Oh well, am sure some lawyer will write about it on twitter at some point.

I think the worst thing about this seems to be that the person who trafficked him and then enslaved him (uncear if this is the same person?) is still free and hasn't been prosecuted for anything. Need to be named and shamed and prosecuted.

Fundamentally does seem to be a case of trafficking and enslavement, even if the media are calling it 'forced to work as a domestic servant'.
