***The Retro Screenshot Thread!***

Ah Amiga memories..

I used to love flight Sims back then. F15 strike eagle II, falcon, and platformers like new Zealand story. And what was that rainbow one where you fired rainbows to kill enemies but you could walk on them and climb up the levels..

Also - blood money, and the alien game.. can't remember it. And the bloodsport football one - so much cool style! I loved psygnosis and bitmap brothers - what happened to them?

I'm glad indie gaming is such high quality - I like the don't give af mentality

Good thread!
Decided to dust off Frontier: Elite 2.

Earth in all it's glory!

Can't remember how many hours I used to spend on my Amiga playing this.
Still remember the big universe map that came with the game, had it stuck on the wall next to my computer desk.

Rainbow islands or bubble bobble 2 :p

Rainbow islands! And yeah bubble bobble too

Brutal Football, Rasseru? I have that in the box :) And the alien one.. Alien Breed? Loved that!

Speedball & speedball 2! 'ice cream... Ice creaaam...' .

And yeah, alien breed ! Team17..

Good times

Edit* oh yeah - xenon, and xenon II - megablast, and the chaos engine... Great style

Have you ever managed to shoot down a pirate?

Funny enough, I got caught by 3 after jumping to Ross 154 to do a military mission.
If they catch u in space after a hyperjump, I find it best to cut your engines and let them come to you.
If they get stuck flying in stupidly big circle around you, try firing a missle at them, then once their out of range, speed up time. Kinda resets the fight and will hopfully give you a closer engagement.

Deuteros was a very good game. I remember if you put an unfinished base on the farthermost planet then you couldn't get attacked :)

Lost Patrol - talk about random. Loved the game and I did complete it but it was so random when you clicked a direction that it became very frustrating.

Games I loved:

Dungeon Master & Chaos Strikes Back: http://hol.abime.net/445
(Everything that needs to be said has been said about these two games - hard as nails at time but great gameplay - loved every minute of it)
Turrican 2: http://hol.abime.net/1535
(The best platformer and one of the best shoot em ups I've ever played, fantastic music as well - especially the music to level 2 - called traps - fits in with the gameplay brilliantly)
Sensible World of Soccer: http://hol.abime.net/1874
(Between this and Kick Off 2 for which is the best but this had a career mode which edged it for me)
Treasure Island Dizzy: http://hol.abime.net/1501
(I think this was the first Amiga game I ever played and after coming from the C64 version it was brilliant - being able to get inside the fish amazed me!)
It Came from the Desert: http://hol.abime.net/2674
(Just a fantastic game! very cinematic in only the way that Cinemaware could do games!)

There are a ton more.

I had an effective technique to take other ships with a beam laser. Get a good distance away from them before turning around and targetting them with your autopilot. Turn on the autopilot whilst unloading the beam laser on to them. When you get close, turn off auto pilot and repeat.

If you had a heavy ship then ramming into them with the autopilot would finish them off :)

Took me ages of farming that system where they give you money to take precious gems off their hands to save up for a Panther Clipper. Not half as long as it would trading legit, though.

Elite was my first love, on an electron. We use to run about rpging space Adventurer then jump into the cockpit and play the game

I never got to elite though

Venturing into the world before I was born and started out with a little Tapper on the Atari 2600. Definitely doesn't make me want to work behind any bars.
