Can amd even enable path tracing?
What would be the point?

Can amd even enable path tracing?
That place probably got worse since Musk bought it![]()

It's only a matter of time.
Video starts at DLSS render resolution per setting ^^
Steve shows the Nvidia charts for path tracing and re affirms what is known (and confirmed by the Nvidia engineers). It needs higher resolutions to actually work properly. 4k is the target for pixel quantity for PT to work, 1080p isnt really giving the volume of data needed.
Yes but unplayable without FSR, RDNA3 is SLOWER than Ampere without DLSS!Can amd even enable path tracing?

) and other of such weird nature. Or the fact that my character STILL doesn't cast any shadows and do not reflect in anything aside few chosen mirrors in bathrooms. But that aside, performance on 4090 is just not good - I play in 1440p UW, so DLSS on Quality - barely 60FPS (30FPS without DLSS). But even that 60 is not fluid, very laggy and just unpleasant to play. DLSS Quality and FG I get around 100FPS (drops to 90, goes a bit above 100), but still feels sluggish/laggy. It feels much better with the Psycho RT. Then, there's a bunch of aliasing in movement caused by PT, denoising is eating a lot of texture details etc. And of course, textures in general in this game are in most cases just bad, low resolution and do not look real but just plasticky-artificial - likely because of standard RT and it being much less costly having flat/reflective materials than with any grainy texture. It doesn't help for sure. All in all, it's a fancy lights and colours show but it doesn't feel real/realistic, it doesn't make my jaw drop etc. It shows that this game hasn't really been designed for PT and it's just bolted over as an afterthought.Check Twitter, Reddit etc. - this new CP patch seems to have completely gimped RDNA 3 even in raster, where it's much slower than in previous builds. FSR also seems to be badly broken. Colour me surprised after NVIDIA showered CDP with monies to even get PT bolted on that old and already dead (as they don't plan to use it ever again) engine, that suddenly AMD cards got completely nerfed.Yes but unplayable without FSR, RDNA3 is SLOWER than Ampere without DLSS!

I've experienced lots of stuttering in the city - not FPS drops, just engine lags, if I had to describe better. Game feels floating instead of properly reacting to input, even when FPS is close to 100 on 4090. Then it loves to crash randomly or has described by you massive stuttering and freezing. It's definitely not bug-free with PT.Just tried the new overdrive mode on a 7950X3D/4090 and it looks great. However, in combat I experienced massive stuttering when firing Guts as the recoil seemed to stop the game. Might need to check if it’s something that can be cleared up by updating the bios/latest drivers.

90% of the games out use rasterisation only.About time rasta dun die.

Bless you. So you want the pc game market to die then. And?
Something I found quite interesting is 1 of the CDPR devs explained a few days ago that path tracing needs higher resolutions to give the best visual outcome, Preferably 4K or higher, To get the most accurate information for the frame and also deliver the best "shiny".
Experimented around, 1080P vs 4K, Even outside of the higher resolution textures on show, Higher resolution really does make path tracing show more detail in a scene, There are actual full on reflections, Lights, Shadows etc... missing at lower resolutions due to insufficient data, Found that quite interesting.

I find it absolutely HILARIOUS that the flagship AMD RDNA3 RX 7900 XTX with massive 24GB VRAM only can run Overdrive path tracing at 22 fps 1080p, 12 fps 1440p and 5 fps 4K. It is incredible that my Nvidia last generation Ampere RTX 3080 10GB can run Overdrive path tracing at 30 fps 1080p, 19 fps 1440p and 9 fps 4K is FASTER than RX 7900 XTX!
I am very impressed with ADA RTX 4080 can run Overdrive path tracing without DLSS2 or DLSS3 at 53 fps 1080p, 32 fps 1440p and 15 fps 4K, as fast as my RTX 3080 10GB with DLSS.
Next generation Blackwell RTX 5080 will expect to run Overdrive path tracing without DLSS up to 2.5 time faster than ADA will probably see over 106 fps 1080p, 64 fps 1440p and 30 fps 4K. But I think like 30% increase from RDNA2 to RDNA3, RDNA4 RX 8900 XTX will expect to run at 30 fps 1080p that will match 2 generations old Ampere RTX 3080 10GB performance.
