The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

Anyone got a good guide on how to undervolt the pulse vega 56 card?

If there are any undervolt/overclock guides that are reliable I'd appreciate it :D.

I used the "Lazy mans guide to tweaking your GPU (rx vega 56 specific)" to get a general understanding of all the options, and what does what. The only difference is that I used Wattman insted of Overdrive tool, but the general guideline is the same.

Long time lurker, but first time signing up and posting!

I recently picked up an MSI Vega 56 Air Boost OC. Sleek looking card and I'm actually a fan of blowers. (I know... Crazy.) At any rate, I've got mine at the stock 1520mhz with +50% power limit, 1050mv, and increased fan curve. Mine also came with Samsung HBM. HOWEVER, I've only been able to reach 925mhz (maybe 935 as I have had no artifacting or issues running Superposition or Furmark, just some CTDs in BFV but that could be a BFV issue.)

Has anyone else had issues with the Samsung HBM not being able to overclock to 950 (without a bios flash)? Believe I may have just lost the silicone lottery. At the end of the day, 925 is still much better than 800.

Thanks.

Better yet, can anyone just share screenshots of their wattman settings :p

Not sure if this is a good idea tho, but still...

What works for one card may not work well for another, even if its exactly there same model.

There are no shortcuts for a properly optimised overclock / undervolt, you have to work through methodically and find what is most effective for your specific card.

The last 2 are attempts to post the same picture, uneditable for some reason. There is not much info left anyway, just a custom fan curve and +50% power limit. And as I said it's not a good idea to just copy settings but that's what he asked for. I mean, how high you can get on the HBM def depends on the card and is very variable. Same with p6/7, varies.

Can the reference asrock be flashed to a 64 or do I need the sapphire one?

Afaik it depends entirely on having Samsung memory. All reference cards are supposed to be identical. Chance of having Samsung on V56 stock, is somewhere around 10%. NOTE! A lot of people have had issues flashing bios with the Asrock cards, so make of that what you will.

I wouldn't buy the card expecting to be able to flash bios, chances are you're gonna be disappointed.

Cheers. Sapphire it is then. Seems to be a lot more success with them

Yup, I'll definitely need to tune for my card but it gives me a starting point to work from :D

I'm looking at getting a new GPU after I recently built a whole new rig with a 3700X. I'm patiently waiting for the 5700 after markets but I just saw the Vega 56 Sapphire Pulse for £260. I'm a bit of a noob with all this PC stuff and I've gotten myself confused with all the reading I've been doing. I'm wondering do I really need an after market 5700 or would a cheaper Vega 56 be a decent purchase for someone who only games in 1080 at 60 FPS for games like Total War, Division 2 and Monster Hunter? Any tips greatly appreciated.

The RX 5700 is what, 10% faster than a Vega 56 on average? So it depends if you reckon you can get an AIB RX 5700 for £300ish. Not sure if the RX 5700 has more overclocking headroom though.

For that res/fps, a V56 would be way overkill even. Very good purchase!

I did it, arriving Tuesday. I was so intent on spending the most I could afford I never even considered the monitor I'm using. To think I had an ASUS 2070 Super on order :/ Cheers!

For 1080p 60hz it really is a bit of an overkill, but should you want to upgrade to 1440p/75hz or 1080p/144hz, this is the card. Too bad monitors aren't as cheap as we want them to be tho. My 144hz/1080p one cost 150 gbp.
