The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I don't know, debugging driver/game engines is far above my pay grade.

If you can use another system to get past that bit, the game should work fine thereafter.

It mostly works fine after -- I found another crash point in one of the Strikes, again on Nessus. It's extremely annoying as I can't do anything on Nessus due to fear of crashes :(

Superposition 'VR Ready?' bench on 'VR Maximum' if you're interested..

I've found Vega to be more than adequate for VR so far, and there are likely to be more optimisations in the future.

Good result, must see what score I get with my 1070. Thanks for posting.

I have a Rift and am using v64 (well will be when I get my motherboard back from RMA) it works great with the hbcc on the frame rates are very consistent so it makes the gaming experience good for vr.

That's good to hear :)

What happened to LiquidVR (or whatever it was that Mantle was turned into internally for VR stuff)?

I gather it's in GPUOpen now?
Does anyone have a list of games that it's in? I think I read one of the Serious Sam VR games uses it, but struggling to find a complete/decent list.

My experience of the reference cooler lasted for ~30min IIRC. Besides noise it was the monitoring data that made me cut this experience short :o. Below results of temps as "out of box" (ie zero tweaks) on SuperPosition 4K Optimized preset.

When I saw max GPU 74°C Hotspot 105°C and HBM 81°C I decided it was time to not experience the reference cooler too much ;) . Following day fitted the EK-FC Radeon VEGA block I had ordered, here are the results.

Luckily got a molded die :) .

I usually use Arctic Silver 5, as I had Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut to hand I thought I'd try that for the first time. I hated spreading it vs AS5 :o . I even warmed the tube with a hairdryer and the spreading card :o . Real PITA IMO, results seem similar to other VEGA WC users so not complaining. Really luved how nice and soft the included thermal pads with water block were.

Now for some more tweaking :) .

LOL! been too long on AMD GPU Matt! plus with these AMD CPUs it's nice to be all RED!.

My last nVidia was a GTX 280 (besides this recent foray with GTX 1080). Suddenly out of the blue it died whilst running f@h, was ~3mths old IIRC. Prior that had a 8800GTX, which lasted well and was a beast! Other than that it's been AMD before and after ;) .

The driver panel sucked for nVidia IMO. I hated having to load apps in the background to cap frames/make changed which it didn't have.

Yeah the VEGA is making good use of the 850W PSU for sure! :p . Seeing some increased W when running f@h, etc. For me non issue, could be an issue for others though.

PSU is behaving even with 1950X, gonna dabble with OC on both to see how it goes ;) .

Careful gupsterg! From my testing I could easily hit 800W socket draw if I found something that used CPU and GPU equally hard ;)

Someone reported having input delay with the Radeon Settings Framecap, I'll be doing some testing on that this week, but unsure how to measure it as a reliable metric. So far I've not noticed a difference at all between the input with and without the framecap in Settings.

Cheers for the heads up! :).

IIRC today with card as "out of box"/driver defaults, 1950X stock, I saw ~approx 500W MAX with RealBench Stress mode. This is inc screen, etc.

On another note, to me with impromptu analysis, it suggests I see greater water temp than with GTX 1080 boosting to ~1975MHz :o . So the slim rads are taking a bit of a beating now :o .

@AMDMatt I just saw your Wolfenstein 2 video. Are you using that capture software because Relive isn't working with the game? I played for a few hours last night and noticed Relive won't capture, it just grabs my desktop behind the game. I suspect it because of Vulkan.

Yes.

Run Windowed mode if you want to use Relive with Vilkan, it does work.

Enable record desktop, start recording, start the game, should work.
It works but it records the border of course. Also, Freesync behaves funny in windowed mode.

As much as I like AMD, Relive isn't ready for primetime. It's buggy, cannot be forced to record a specific screen, and currently locks the card to high clocks when not in use. The quality is great when it works but in its current state, it's basically a beta feature.

Any idea whats happening with the custom vega cards? Can see that some sites are reporting end of October but nothing seems to be appearing!

Looking to get a custom Vega 64 with a nice Freesync monitor :)
