The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Hi, I've put my Vega 64 Limited edition on the MM but if it hasn't sold by Monday I'm going to buy the following kit: Alphacool Ice Wolf 120 GPX Pro AMD Vega M01
Here's a review on it. Has anyone used one and is it a decent product, I want it too reduce the noise issues with the Air Reference Vega cards but it's expensive so I wanted to make sure I'm not wasting money..

Hi - I stuck one on my 64 and posted results in the last couple of pages.

In summary

* Quieter
* Cooler
* Fiddly install
* You may have to wait a while to get one
* Overall IMHO definately worth it

Yeah see my video above.

Will do cheers.

@TonyTurbo78 @AMDMatt and @Everyone that might know whats going on here.

I can see immediately 3 things that are wrong here.
1. Your hot spot it borderline shut down temperature which makes it throttle when you try and change anything.
2. You first set your hbm mv to lower than the p6 mv this is why is undercloked your core
3. You then set your p6 to 1050 which is lower than the Hbm mv of 1100 (which we now know is just the minimum base mv not hbm mv)

So in essense you were telling the card to be over the mv of p6 but under the mv of p7 causing it to flicker between 800 - 945 as i couldnt decide which to use the power on the core or the hbm, if you read my massive boring posts on the 56 owners thread about this EXACT problem it might help you.

The short version -: always set the hbm mv (base) to the same as the p6 core mv, or vice versa.
You will need to give the card some more case flow or higher fan speeds because 110 hotspot is borderline shut down

Thanks for detailed reply. My hot spot has always been this high, gamed for hours no issue mate. I think this hot spot is designed to run very hot.
My case air flow is very good 750D
I been reading about HBM voltage people saying it's the floor voltage but what I don't understand is how can AMDMatt have is at 950mv @1100

I will give what you have said a try. Thanks

Are you on a liquid cooled 64?
Matts results are from a liquid vega and in turn on a liquid bios.

I ordered a pair of cheap** gaming headphone from OCUK yesterday so I'll hopefully get them Monday. I'll still be getting the AIO when it's available though.

**When I said cheap I meant real cheap at £8.99 :D

I've never bothered with headphones when gaming but if I get on okay with these I may get a decent surround pair.
Well, those are no doubt going to make some kind noise.
But wouldn't expect them to reproduce actual sound with any quality. (except for maybe some boom boom bass)
So don't be surprised if gaming on them sucks.
Because lot more expensive than that gaming headphones suck more than vacuum cleaner.

And almost all "surround" headphones are garbage, especially gaming branded ones.
So you'll want quality headphones instead of shiny gaming bling bling.
Because sound quality is very important for binaural sound.

And of course that integrated Realtek won't give binaural-sound.

Its much easier to buy very cheap inear that are also ok. What games are causing 100% gpu usage but quiet that the fan is a problem, every game I play has an engine noise or rainfall with some kind of background ambient volume in game its not a factor as much.

Noise cancelling headphones ? I liked the setup by the person who said they feed cables through a partition wall, cant beat that

NP :) .

Did a big update in VEGA bios thread today on OCN, also fathomed exactly what HBM voltage slider is in WattMan. I have also moved away from WattMan OC profile. Applying mine by PP mod, this makes it the default for say "Balanced/Custom". So even if driver crash/reset, etc card is at OC profile always, etc, etc.

Not as good as having had VBIOS mod open on past AMD GPUs, but good enough so far :) .

I just wanted something that'll close off the ears so the card doesn't seem as loud as it is, Plus I often play during the early hours and currently have to turn the volume high and I don't want to bother the neighbours, I'm not expecting to need them for long as I'll either sell the card on the MM or I'll buy the eisenwolf AIO kit, once that's done I won't need the headphones anymore, That's why I went with the cheapest.

Right thanks for helping guys @TonyTurbo78 has walked me through tonight on why its happening with my GPU. the reason is throttling because of temps, setting fan speed right the way to 100% got me close to 1600 on core and 1050. SO for now I will remain on balance mode until I water cool.

And then we push forward to 1700mhz+ and 1100mhz HBM:)

Another quality reference cooler from AMD then! :rolleyes: (In fairness I'm not a big fan of the Nvidia ones either)

Was it the hotspot temp like @Illuminist said or just the GPU temp?

My gaming settings are
P6 1537 @1000
P7 1667 @1025
HBM 1110 @1025
50% power limit

This gives me 1610-1625 in games. I set my temp target to 72, this keeps the HBM under 80c (hot spot gets up to about 85). The fan runs around 2800-2900 but initially spins up to 3200 or so to catch the temp rising. GPU-Z gives the core power draw as 190-200 Watts. Performance is excellent. It took a bit of tweaking but I'm very happy with the results.

I use:-

P6 1557MHz @ 975
P7 1642MHz @ 1125
HBM 1100 @ 975
38% PowerLimit

I get ~1600-1625 in games. I found if I had P7 1657MHz, under certain circumstances of 3D load, it would over boost to a level where GPU crashed. So by bringing it down it solved that. I also found if I set 1100mV or 1112mV or 1125mV I got same ~1.075V when GPU loaded, but 1125mV made it more stable in various testing.
