The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I had to reinstall Windows as my drivers messed up. I couldn't update my drivers, it just resulted in a fail.
Uninstalling drivers to reinstall borked it completely :(.

Anyway, on latest drivers I've got MSI AB to do -150mv with the GPU at 1630MHZ (God knows what it is in reality, as it depends on what driver) I've left AB to force FPS to 60 (Since the framerate target just wouldn't work....) and I've left the fan to absolute auto. I'm actually quite impressed. Runs pretty well to be honest, and it remains with acceptable noise.

Fixing it to 60 FPS was required to make it stop freaking out playing FM18 (The LED was going mental and squealing occasionally, whereas now it's just solid).

Even if they didn't advise against it it's not good idea:
It doubles the current per wire (and cross section) doubling voltage loss.
That could well make card's VRM work harder and make ground reference more unstable.
Also it doubles power loss in wiring wasting little additional power for nothing.

you think it could have took part in the death of the card?
Then it makes no sende why they include an 8pin to 2x8-pin with the gpu hah.

Will make sure to use 2 cables when it arrives next. This has given me some time to run some more tests on the 970 and even on some 2y old games like mgs phantom pain the 970 gets 90 fps with all at max while vega was only getting 110. Bad example for a game but just to show the point.
Hitman 970 hits 40 ish while vega was at 45/60 :/ on a 75hz monitor that is.

Things to try,

Download DDU and go into safe mode and uninstall all AMD and Nvidia Drivers.

Then install the 17.11.1 drivers. I had issues with mine when installing the 17.11.2 drivers without installing the 17.11.1 drivers first.

did you try the other bios on the card? Maybe it's a faulty bios and just needs a reflash.

yeah i used ddu once after installing the first time and it did fix a couple of issues but at the time i immediatly updated so maybe thats why some issues remained.
Hopefully this latest fixed most stuff.

Anyone has any details about the differences betwen the saphire wc and the gigabyte wc cards? Pcb diff and mainly are the wc blocks the same?

To the wc version owners, how is the physical temp of the card/shroud? On mine even the tubes were too hot...

Just a guess here but might be worth checking that your rams are fine by running some ram check tests. Had similar issues with other programs long ago and one of the sticks was faulty. Could have also been problem with installation not getting proper uac permissions.

Na first thing i did was a memory check, All appears fine.
