The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I tried simulating your settings and my card crashes instantly. I know silicon varies in voltage tolerance but I think you might need to apply more voltage to get yourself up into the p-state comfortably.
Give me til tmrow and I can give you some suggestions for tweaking.

Never looked at it that way. Although my temps are floating around high 70s / 80 at hot spot.

However any help would be grand!

those are excellent graphic scores for those clock speeds, interesting that. Was HBCC enabled mate?

Thanks Tony, I left Hbbc on but I don't think it really makes much difference on my system.I'm trying to hit 26k and then that's it i'll call it a day with fs :). I'm seeing 335w peak drawn from just the Gpu so I'm right on the limit with this bios and i'm still on air.
If you remember I asked what reservoir and pump you used, I was going to do the same but use a 280 rad, I just can't justify the expense of a new psu 800w, reservoir/pump and block etc just to gain maybe 2-4 fps.

Oh we have a contender here !

That's around the scores i get for the graphics, this is the good stuff right here, I reckon i can push 26K on the gfx score with the Lc bios, i was supposed to post scores last night but fell asleep on the sofa like a grandad

I'm so close but I'm still on air, and I have only a 650w psu so I only have another 30-60w headroom.
Hope you get it with a v56 that'd be an even greater achievement. Someone has to get it :)
Lol I gave up my job of shift work that I had been doing for 8 years, because I was doing exactly that (asleep on sofa and he's gone zzzz) on my couple of days off.

Surprised your GS score is lower than mine, considering your DPM 7 clock is higher, link to compare.
I have a vega 56 with a 64 bios which may explain the difference. Still cannot fathom why the 1920x scores so poorly in the combined test. I've tried no SMT, running distributed mode and local mode, dropping the ram clocks and timings, overclocking the cpu, running the cpu at stock and so far the only thing that nets more than 4800ish points is using game mode. The 1900x and the 1950x don't seem to be as badly affected.

I ran slightly higher again yesterday but not bothered to post the result in the thread as it's only a mild increase. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/23822276

Hi Guys,

If you are wondering what could be squeezed out with a 64 on LC bios and waterblock, have a look. HBCC was on. HBM2 @ 1150Mhz.

https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14165807

My 56 with a 64LC bios can do :

https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14164621

Could go higher now with my 56 prob. since when I did the bench run, we didn`t have HBM over 1100Mhz. now we do.

Have a goodone!;)

Lovely jubbly amazing gfx score. I take it your core clock in Wattman was set to around 1780mhz. What wattage and PL was set mate? That's a winner there.

I used 17.11.1 Drivers then. Using 17.11.4 now. But running xfire with my 56+64 on LC bios /w waterblocks.

Then I used core : 1757Mhz in wattman, and HBM as was reported.

Modded softpowertable and heatsinks mod on the backside of my card, on the core backside capacitatros and voltage regulators. keeps it nice and cool:)

Picture of my run with GPU-z. Was used with default 3dmark settings. Buildzoid said when tesselation is off, it still is valid for HWBOT, so he turns it off. Then I can get around 29k GPU score. But that is not the real deal:)

If link is not working, a picture of my reported clocks with gpu-z is here:

Was one of the runs I made, not THE one linked previously. still:)
All the best!;)

I was just going to ask if you disable tesselation, congrats on the results you've done well. Wish I bought the v56 but my 64 order had already gone through.

The 56 with a waterblock is definitely the best buy, but the 64 is better binned and with a block offers up to 5 fps difference in games. If that is worth 100$ is another questioN:)

I can run my 56 with the mods up to 1717mhz core and HBM is also up to 1150mhz like the 64. But I have had 2x 56s and both ended OC-ing up to 1722mhz max. So the 64s have better potential in my experience for sure. With better drivers we will see what is still to come. BUt I believe we might break the FS 28k GPU score next year...simply with driver optimizations:) (without the tesselation "hack")
Also, I burnt one of my 56s down with a water leak:D so i had free voltage capacitators and put them on the new 56....so i filled all the empty slots...total of 10x added. So eventually you will see the heatsinks are on the phase doublers not on the capacitators as they barely get hot. But phase doublers get really hot, even with my mods.
If you have checked some of the after market waterblocks, they have thermal pads for their backplates, which only focus on cooling the caps, that are not so important, that is just silly - we need phase doubler active cooling!
Added example picture of hotspots on the backplate....I suggest you all take your stock plates off, they just trap heat.

Here are pics of my mods: top one is V56, bottom 64. no caps mods.

The caps mod actually gave my 56 a 10mhz boost in max OC, but that is marginal, so do not try it:D

Cheers guys!

Is there anyway you could show us or guide me on how you modded the card with heatsinks and these other things ?
NP, happy to sort reg file :) , please give link to VBIOS you use.

People quote PCI-SIG wattage for elements, but in reality they are rated for higher. Here is a link to image posted here before. Also the VRM control chip will have OCP, so even if you made PowerLimit excessive OCP will kick in.
Hey there, I will use whatever 64 bios you decide to do the reg file for :)

1. The heatsink mod is simple, mate:) Just: 1. get heatsinks. 2. put thermal pads on em. 3 I also added thermal paste, it will make it stick, don't worry, it will not short anything. DONE! Check the pics for what is phase doubler, what PWN controller and etc. You need to cool mainly the phasedoublers, the PWM controller gets hot too. and the backside of the core also could use a mod, thats why the original backplate has a cap for that, do let it "breathe". I put my registry file in the link also. It has 121% powerlimit....more than you ever need...75% will most cases be overkill allready. it also has 425W PowerLimit and 500A Tdc Limit....so don`t fracking (no disrespect meant) use it on stock cooler, unless you do one run with fans at max in a cool room:D:D:D

2. The capacitator mod is something BUILDZOID talks and teaches on his channel. But you need soldering skills, very basic, but I would not advise it. Tested it to see if it made a difference - as I told 10Mhz on the core. do not bother;) Will try it later on my 64, maybe it gives more potential....;)

I am no good with tutorials and I am trying to finish my master's degree while working full time:D so sry for now...

New i7 8700k boosted my games performance quite abit

i7 3770k @4.2 vs i7 8700k @4.7 -- Look at them Mins WoW!!

Some CSGO is a game that favours a decent CPU more than the GPU its around 100fps boost in this game.

i7 3770k @ 4.2 - 242fps

i7 8700k @4.7ghz - 328fps
