The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Yes, i changed to the 64 bios (non LC) and all my problems went away, was even much faster than the LC bios, absolute bliss for a few weeks and then the PSU said "sorry mate too much for me im old"

I'm near guildford surrey, are you anywhere near?
Ok glad that sorted that one, what drivers are you using? I'm in Gosport area so a little bit of a journey.

Can you guys that i have quoted tell me how many amps on your 12v do you have?
My choice for a new , new one is either a kolink 1000 bronze, or a gamemax 1050 gm silver.. But any one that can suggest under £100 for a 800+watt psu with 70 ish amp 12v rail would be great.
Vega is such a power hungry monster, nomnomnom

For the record my 600W PSU has two 12V rails (32A & 28A, 48A combined) and my V64's 12V cables are split across both. My R7 1700 is overclocked to 3.875GHz and I have a full custom water loop with 7 fans and a couple of hard drives. I have however just had delivered a Seasonic Focus Platinum 850W to upgrade to as this PC is on 24/7.

I would try and get a better brand of PSU, and with cryptocurrency mining in the dumps you ought to see quality 800+W PSUs get cheaper over the next few weeks.

Just snagged a 64 reference for £470.

I'm a bit of a watercooling noob (use a AIO on my CPU) but whats the best options for this? I've looked at EK but they seem to want to include the CPU in all their bundles and require a ridiculous add on for a 360 loop (like the A240R + 360 upgrade), people seem wary of the EK-MLC Phoenix kits which would allow for a 360 and gpu only loop and you can get caught on import duties there as well.

So what are people doing with these? How much would a dedicated 360 loop cost using separate parts bearing in mind being a newcomer? The only other 'easy' option seems to be the Alphacool Eiswolf 240 GPX Pro and that doesnt seem to be reviewed anywhere

Cheers for any help guys

100 for the block 40 for a pump £100-150 rad ..triple tubing connecters bout 45 .. :)

you can cut that in half for second hand gear .. but will still need a new block

Cheers I'll keep an eye out on the MM. Don't really rate the kits then? :)
there getting better .. but once you get your bits you only ever have to change the block when you upgrade ..and I've been doing water for 10 yrs or more ..
started with 1 rad for cpu now I have 2xtriple and a quad .. also I don't use nickel as I use silver coils to keep the water clean

Interesting thanks. I need the HD cages in my case but could do an all in one loop with a 360/480 rad at the top if I get the cash together. Picking the vega up today so we'll see how noisy/hot it gets :D

I’ve got the eiswolf. Very good, keeps my ref air at 50c max - running at 1650 ish with 1100 on the hbm. Fiddly to fit, took me about 90 mins being careful. I posted a vid earlier in the thread of a benchmark and temps if you are interested.

HTH!

If i could pick your brains... would this combo work with me cutting in the Vega block?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £330.48 (includes shipping: £10.50)

not knowing anything about the kit .. I can't say .. pump speed strength ? slim is going to give you a rad about 20-25mm thick .. they do a pe version that's in-between which should be ok with varda fans at 1/2 speed ... quiet :)
do some more research and cost out a diy kit .. in the end it's up to you ...

I have the eiswolf 240 also, but it's been a massive pain in the bum for me, when i did get it installed right (huge amounts of TIM and maximum screwing of the case) it was brilliant....
for a while and then the hotspots would shoot up after a month or so to +50 the gpu and hbm temps, i would then have to take it apart re-apply the TIM (there would be a bald bit where the hotspot is) and put it back together again for it to remain sane.

Other people, like CapitalOne have no problems whatso ever, so my conclusion / question to you Nutella and CaptialOne is ... is the gpu die moulded or does it have empty channels around the gpu and hbm dies?
Mine is unmoulded and because of this the height between HBM and gpu die are slightly different causing contact problems with the eiswolf cooling block.

If you have a moulded one Nutella, i would totally get the eiswolf, as when installed right its great and low maintenance and cheap. (but fugly as heck)
