The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Oh yes those heat pads were the worst part by a million miles.

The problems were not just mine, it all started with a guy called Vince on here, he ordered one and assembled it 3 times over but still with hotspot crazy temps, then he donated it to me to try and again it took me 3 tries to try and get it to work (damn those pads)
And it just wouldn't keep the hotspot down, we came to the conclusion that the pump didn't work, but couldn't be sure.)

Sorry to necropost but I thought it was worth adding a data point.

The pump on mine died/was grinding and likewise after much fiddling and re-assembling I never got the HS to be right. AC did not want to know other than sending the lot back for replacement. So went with EK FC and the AC coolant (Cape Kelvin Catcher) ate the nickel coating. Had to open the EK FC and clean it and reinstall with Mayhems and all has been fine since. So I will be avoiding AC from now on.

An AC rep (on another forum) blamed poor build quality of EK nickel coating and that it was a known issue with their blocks, so I asked if it was known where there is no warning about it on the label, no response.

Anyway, on another note, I've not seen a post about it (could have missed it, still recovering from eye surgery), but had anyone tried a Nitro+ BIOS on an original air V64?

Thanks!

Has anyone gone from xfire 290 to vega64 single?

Any noticeable difference ?

I was using x2 290s a couple of years back and now I use a Vega 64 (I Was using Fury NANO for a while in between). In my personal opinion it would be worth doing so since you will definitely have reliable and consistent performance with 1 gpu, without having to worry about games with poor scaling. I don't have the precise data to compare the two scenarios, but from what I remember in most games I play the single Vega 64 is better. I used a 3440x1440 75hz freesync screen with both cases.

I sold a 290 fairly recently for more than I paid for it in 2013.

Thanks I've got an x34 Free sync. I only ever really play battlefield3 which supports xfire. Or did at least.

Is the heat output less? With summer fast approaching It gets quite hot with two 290's

I bought a new case but if i close the side panel, i can't pass the 3Dmark FireStrike Extreme Stress test...
Any suggestion how to install the card? thanks...

CPU: 8700K + X52
GPU: RX VEGA 64 Liquid Edition
CASE: H700i

Fire Strike Extreme

I try to undervolt but it seems it can't passed 3dmark stress test.
In wattman i set the P7 voltage and +50% Power Limit.

P7 1.25v (Default)

Graphics score: 11871 (Peak Core Clock:1698)

Stress Test: 95.7% (Not Passed)

P7 1.2v

Graphics score: 11970 (Peak Core Clock:1791...wow)

Stress Test: 0% (Not Passed, crashed)

After some adjust:

P7 1.2v & 1722 Core Clock, After Stree Test, the peak clock is 1706 Mhz and i got 99.3% stability.
Not sure if it is safe since i do not play any game, will test more and report.

@Jon_Snow Dont ignore HBM voltage that also plays apart in undervolt. Try this set HBM volt 970 and p6 and p7 1000

To gain more p6 and p7 speed you must higher the 1000 and to make it more stable you need to find the sweet spot with HBM voltage. 975 is a very good starting point.

Nice!

Did you buy the GPU recently? If so where did you get it from? Reference cards are hard to find these days. :(

@Jon_Snow It looks like your radiator is sideways, I think it's designed to have the inlet and outlet at the bottom, so maybe it's got some air bubble in it with it the way it is?

My "comfort zone" is with everything including the hot spot at or below 85 degrees c.

It's also blowing out,

Worth checking I think.

thanks, i will try it.

Now my wattman setting is P6 1667/1150mv (Default) P7 1722/1210mv

In 3dmark FireStrike Extreme Graph Scores:11908
Pass 98.7% Stress Test.

The peak core clock in test is roughly 170X.

@Jon Snow Get a case with actual airflow. That one is very poor airflow. Something like the Silverstone Redline 06 has the airflow to keep components cool and not overheat.

thanks, will consider this.

I got this card last year.
Very luck to get this card at MSRP price (also include two free games :D)

Not sure how to install the radiator(AIO) is best...
