The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

thanks when it arrives ill try it,do you think that was a fair price, this is the psu ,

Yeah thats why I said use my settings to cut down from the normal power over volting settings the card has also. (Turbo mode).
You should be fine with your PSU, if you do not go down to 1200mv + 50% PL route.
There the PSU might struggle. But even myself with a watercooled card don't do what, because is counter productive to overclock the Vega 64 believing it is an Nvidia card. Except if you are a "retarded" reviewer... :P

Yeah Vega64 is definitely a Tweaker's card. Not really great for the mainstream user as it's quite a finicky card to dial in, but that's the fun for the enthusiast :)

Amen mate. Amen.

Wrote this many times. Had the GTX1080Ti Xtreme and was a boring card to "play with". Normal factory OC was 2021, and the card couldn't do above 2063 on air.
So only spend 1 hour trying to tweak the card before I gave up for 10 months.

3 months now with the Vega 64, I have spent a lot of time looking at the card behaviour on Air, on Air with Liquid Metal, and under water (with Liquid Metal).
I have tried numerous downvolted settings (including the "power save 176W cap" mode).

For an overclocking enthusiast like myself (of 30 years), this card is the most interesting card to tweak and "play with", since the Club3d ATI 9500"Non Pro"..... :D

Managed to find a new Vega 64 LC somehow.

Sorry... :D

Unfortunately for AMD they should probably be trying to target the people that like to plug-and-play.

I imagine if a car company released a car where to get it to do more than 15 mpg you had to strip and rebuild the engine I don't think it'd be a big seller, despite the mechanics/petrolheads loving it.

@Panos is it worth it to stick some liquid metal on this red devil?

If you do not want to lose the warranty, and you have high temps, it will drop them especially the HBM.
How high are your temps when undervolted? Can you use HWInfo to tell us the HBM temp also? Can you hear the fan?

If your temps are high, I would advice first to put something powerful (and quiet) like an Enermax Magma to blow cold air directly to the heatsink from directly bellow.

i have the card in a meshify c with two 140mm fans on the front grill blowing air in the case and the temps are not high as such but the fans are quite audible and is a distraction
the HBM temps are mid 40's idle and reaches 72c when gaming...

Absolutely, and thats why I love mine.... and got shot of the GTX 1080... it was just ... well boring.. and the fact that it doesn't offer up any better performance than the V64 meant that there was no real reason for me to keep it around.

Is a Vega 64 a worthy upgrade from RX 480 8GB guys?
I went from a 290 to a V64 and love it. It's a huge boost. But a 480 is a lot faster than a 290 and is still a great card. I think I'd be asking what the purpose of an upgrade is. Is it because your games now aren't playing as you'd like them, or is it just because you fancy something new? If you need to upgrade now then a V64 will be great. But it it's just because you have the upgrade itch then I'd only buy (any card) if a good deal comes up.

usually double the fps
that is the variable I go after when I upgrade.
It also depends on resolution, what cpu and such along the way.
Many buy a 1080ti thinking it be so great and runs 1080p and are cpu bound wasting money.

so yea, a vega is a great upgrade from a 480
