The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Doh sorry guys I should have mentioned that I’m running an 1440p UW monitor overclocked to 70hz.

CPU is 5960x at 4ghz. Reason being to up graphics a bit and planning on water cooling at the moment. Current card doesn’t have a compatible block as far as I can see.

I came from the 290 as well to the Vega64 on an ultrawide 34" 75Hz monitor, and it's definitely worth it.

While it definitely not powerful enough for gaming at 4K, I have no problem even gaming at 3200x1800 on Monster Hunter World at 50fps+ on my 4K TV with some graphic setting turned down slightly.

Vega does great at 3440x1440 70Hz, far better than any RX480 would be able to achieve ... that said, you can't always absolutely max everything all the time, but then you only need to turn down a couple of the most expensive settings and you're again good to go.

usually double the fps
that is the variable I go after when I upgrade.
It also depends on resolution, what cpu and such along the way.
Many buy a 1080ti thinking it be so great and runs 1080p and are cpu bound wasting money.

so yea, a vega is a great upgrade from a 480

It's not double the FPS, you need a 1080ti for that kind of a jump, esp. at >1080p. 480 to V64 is definitely a solid upgrade though, about as good as you can expect price/perf considering current prices.

Thanks guys will bite if I see a reasonable price. Do you think we’ll get down to £300 -£350 any time soon?

What would you say is reasonable price second hand? Will be putting a block on it so not fussed if reference or AIB

Your card is stronger than mine, nice steal of the top :)

Still fastest ThreadRipper/Vega combo ;)

You should be able to get 30k physics score with the 1950x at 4ghz. You have the ram forced high? Also don't ask why but mine only does it when overclocking through Ryzen master and not the bios. Before that I was only getting 27k like you.

Literally my favourite cars :D

Thanks... Yeap you have the TR/Vega combo ;)

It is on the 3D mark DB:

Will submit to your linked thread!

Edit: sorry didn't saw the link already posted by trixx

I'm really keen on stop using Afterburner and switch to Wattman and its radeon overlay, but there's one thing that I don't like and I don't know if it's a bug or it's supposed to behave this way, when I set my core voltage on Wattman, it idles fine at 0.762V, as it should be. But the moment I restart the system (or shut it down and turn it on) it idles at 0.9V.

Did you also observed this? Because temps are obviously a little bit higher at 0.9V on idle.

Thanks!

RAM was more what I could get out of Corsair as they owed me after a bad RMA situation. However it was right at the high cost spike for DDR4 so ended up with some pretty poor Dominator modules. Not great for TR4 and can't get better than 2933 at 16/18/18/36/54 :(

Samsung E-Die modules that don't OC worth a damn either. Looking to build a 9700K rig soon and will migrate this RAM to that build and get some G.Skill B-Die 3200MHz modules for the TR4

do you use both MSI AB and Wattman? You much uninstall the former alongside RTSS otherwise things will get conflicting.
Also could you post here your wattman settings?

I'm close to settling on my 24hr clocks and I'm interested in reading any feedback or suggestions on where I can improve things or at least try to improve depending on my luck with the silicon lottery.
I'm using the Vega 64 Red Devil.

Here are my current stable clock settings.

And here's an example of how it does in game, It's an hour or so of playing Dirt Rally and the cores gives a consistent clock in the 1620's, the memory is at 1045.
I've noticed that when I start a game the gpu fans spin up to 59% straight away but then drop back down to a whisper quiet level for the rest of the time.

Great settings mate. It should be sitting around 1660s yes?

@TonyTurbo78 I saw your Forza Horizon 4 benchmark. You need to start rendering at 144hz :P
It felt that I was gaming with the GTX1080Ti without Freesync..... :D
