The Samsung NC20 thread

Its available to pre order at one site, if you dropped OcUK an email they might be able to tell you if/when they expect to have stock.

I phoned OcUK today and they reckoned 24-48 hours and it'll be on their site.

I will probably hold off purchasing an NC10 for a little bit longer then, although to be honest I'm not convinced the NC20 is what I'm looking for. I'll at least wait to see the reviews however.

Well it's the end of the week and still no sign of the NC20 :(

Fortunately I can wait a little longer before making a decision since it will be the pink NC10 I'll be getting if I do order one (don't ask) and it's still on pre-order anyway.

I was going to buy one of these, I need a small netbook/laptop to show some of my work and do small work anywhere, the thing is I read this and I saw it says after like 3 programs it slows down? hmm...

I think it might be better to go for a core 2 duo instead, splash out a bit more than get one of these, I need to do like web development straight away so it'd be tons of folders/notepads/dreamweaver/ftp/photoshop up at once, might even need to do 3d, dont think this little buddy will handle it well.

Its in between netbook and laptop really.
Which is a fail IMO.
Its too big to be an ultra protable laptop, but then not powerful enough to be a decent laptop, and with that price, i dont think it will work

The idea of a netbook is size, weight and price, it's called netbook for a reason. I really don't see the point of a 12 inch netbook costing £350-400 plus. May as well get a compact but much more powerful C2D laptop for a bit more money.

Unboxing and first look at NC20

Have to say I do like the glossy screen as I am a big fan of them for clarity and depth of the image displayed.

Once again I'm pondering if I should sell my NC10 while I still have the chance to make decent cash on it!

The NC20 also uses the Via Nano chipset/cpu instead of the Atom 270 in the NC10. The screen is glossy on the NC20 not matte like the NC10. That's about it for differences I think.

For a 1.9" increase in screen size it looks like they made the whole thing 4 " bigger !! Crazy, looks like they just made an underpowered very expensive small laptop !

£390.99 preorder
A bit too expensive IMO.

Do what I did and get a Samsung Q210 instead, albeit at £600+
Core 2 Duo P8400
3GB DDR2 RAM
320GB HDD
nVidia GeForce 9200M GS

Have had this thing for a few months and I believe 12.1" is too big to be considered netbook. I was tempted for a short while to get NC10 but there's no appeal with this NC20.

Well I was a bit unsure when I first noticed the nano cpu in the NC20, usually via lag behind intel.

After doing some research it looks like the nano can be upto twice as fast as the atom!

One welcome addition is HD video decode. looks like 720p is no problem.

put atom vs nano in google and you will see what i mean ;)
