The Samsung NC20 thread

Win xp boot time not tweaked.

From pressing the power button to desktop showing it takes 33 seconds.

Must say this NC20 now I have been tweaking really flies, not had any slowdowns while installing and browsing etc. Gonna keep xp, just installing office 2007 now.

Spot on, cant fault it.

I really wasnt expecting much because its a netbook, but this looks great, feels great and runs great :)

YouTube HD is unwatchable and like a slideshow lol.

Have you got a link to the video you tested it with? I haven't been able to get HD youtube to run smoothly on my desktop and I have an 8800 GTS in it.

If it's any kind of comparison, that video plays fine on this Core Duo (not Core2) 1.6 laptop with a GM945 under Vista.

Still definately considering the NC20 along with the upcoming Dell Mini 10, thanks for the feedback Spit.

Its strange because youtube hd is the only video im struggling with so far.

Problem with flash possibly? To be quite honest, can't see me ever watching YoutubeHD so it's not that important (to me). But, I would watch stuff encoded in h264 which would seem to play fine.

I agree :) you tube hd holds no interest for me.I have not upgraded flash yet.

Think it's a Flash issue as I am having the same problems with the spec in my sig yet Vimeo plays flawlessly. I'll have to try it on my eeeBox as that has the exact same spec as all these netbooks. I have had 720p video playing fine on it but not tried youtube.

EDIT: Same story on the eeeBox, plays but is laggy. Downloaded it to the disk and played it in another player and it works fine. Seems to be the horrible flash video player thats to blame.

Getting on great, got my tweaks done and software installed :)

Battery life seems good. I like to have the device on full performance which means the Nano runs at 1.6Ghz, this translates to about 3.5 - 4 hrs. Not actually seen it run at 1.3Ghz which is a bit odd because if you put it to max battery life the nano runs at 800Mhz which is ok but you can tell the performance isnt there. Sites with lots of flash are slightly slow.

But overall its everything I wanted and more :)

Do you reckon you could squeeze out ~5+ hours if it wasn't on Max performance, but still maintain a decent amount of performance?

just perfect for me with the 12" 1280x800 res thanks :)

used it for 2 hours today sat on the sofa and battery showed 70%.

This looks nice. Good size, good battery life.

If I can sell my 14.1" lappy I'll get one of these. Can't find em in stock in black though.

Just pre-ordered the Black NC20!
£379

Was really set on buying the NC10 but I wanted a bigger screen.
If I'm lucky, I'll have it by next Friday but I'm not getting my hopes up as most retailers quote 8th of April for stock.

my sister can't decide whether to get the black or white version both looks nice but I guess the black will show fingerprints. does the inside have a glossy look as well?
