The Sandman (coming to Netflix)

I couldn't get past episode 2. Thought it was pretty bad. The Cain and Abel and gargoyle scene killed it for me - ropey as hell.
Currently giving this series a try and actually enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I totally agree with you regarding that episode though. The cutesy bad cgi gargoyle had my toes curling. And the Cain and Abel characters were pretty lame.

I think we've watched four episodes so far. It's been steadily improving.

The diner episode is several leagues better and different than the rest of it - makes me think it was a separate story that they shoehorned in or something.

as mentioned in the what shows are you watching thread, couple of episodes in and it's ok i guess. lead annoys my happiness something shocking with the pursed lips pout kinda thing he seems to constantly do - it's like that 'i've just licked a nettle' look that became popular in the likes of the twilight movies. not sure if they think it makes the characters look more moody and mean, just makes them look ******* constipated imo. constantine actress (can i say actress?) is damn easy on the eye.

From the mind of Neil Gaiman, a two-part bonus episode of THE SANDMAN, featuring the stories "A Dream of a Thousand Cats" and "Calliope," In this two-part story collection, a Siamese cat dreaming of a new world and a writer in desperate need of inspiration cross paths with Morpheus.

That answers the mystery of the 11 episodes listed on IMDB prior to the 5th, and how old IMDB page had actor listing for Caliope!
Looking forward to watching this new episode this evening.

I can't believe that Neil Gaiman and Netflix have made a character who looks human into an animated cat. Talk about race swapping, this isn't even the same species! This is obviously part of Netflix and hollywoods pro cat agenda. Where's the diversity, the representation, so why no dogs or rabbits or frogs or hedgehogs or goldfish or rats or stick insects or gerbils? Netflix are clearly pandering, so why are there no panda characters then! Open your eyes to the "woke" moggy message people. Fewer than 30% of the population of the UK have cats, but Hollywood and the media are clearly trying to normalise this ailurophilia ideology. The majority of pet owners in the UK have dogs, and we are being marginalised! Why can't they stop overrepresenting cats in the media, broadway and major hollywood films. I'm only comfortable watching films and TV with dogs in, and I refuse to be indoctrinated by all this pro-feline rhetoric about cat supremacy! The first 10 episodes were great (I refuse to even say perfect as it sounds like a sound a cat might make), and while I've not watched this, I've read things on my internet echo chamber that make me believe my beliefs without watching it for myself. So now I have to rant to the internet because I'm only comfortable watching media with dogs! Because of the words of other dog friendly people on the internet I'm not sure I can even bring myself to stomach this to make up my own mind! We all know what it's about, it's wrong, it doesn't represent reality. Think of all the children who might watch this cartoon and grow up thinking that it's ok to be a cat or to have cat friends? I've not watched it, but I bet the moggys are all vegan too! They wouldn't cast Tom Ellis as Lucifer in it, but suddenly now it's an episode full of tom's, unbelievable.

What next, they're going to make Dream into a flaming alien skull? A fox? A plant! Disgraceful.

I'm not a cattist. My neighbours cat is black and we get on fine. Some of my best friends are cats.

Watched the first episode and enjoyed it - don't think it's been mentioned already but is anyone else finding the aspect ratio changes in certain scenes uncomfortable or jarring? I get it's a stylistic choice and deliberate but it just pushes me out of the immersion more than anything.

Upto episode 5 now, zero knowledge of the source material and I think it's bloody brilliant. Right up my street.

Just finished it, what a superb adaptation. The casting throughout was absolutely top notch (the actress that played death captured her completely) Makes me want to read it again.
