Division 2 and latest assassins creed games will bottleneck. Still smooth, but it's happening already the move to 8 or 6/12.

Can't speak for Division, as it's not my sort of game.

I played Assassins Creed Origins and Assassins Creed Odyssey all the way through, probably 100 hours in total, as I love those games. I was not expecting them to perform well at all on an overclocked 3770k, but they both played perfectly fine. Sure, the 1080Ti was helping, but even so, I was surprised just how well my Ole Clunker of a CPU handled them. :D

Upgraded from sandy i2500k and gtx660ti to 3700x and rtx2070s.
Night and day difference, finally able to turn upto ultra settings - forgot what that was like.

System running smooth now, after the initial kinks have been sorted.

Placed my upgrade order yesterday. Upgrading for my trusty 2500k to a 3700x. Grabbed a MP510 960gb to go along with it so hopefully see a nice overall boost. Keeping the RX 580 for the time being but might upgrade that too along with a jump to 1440p.

same. bit the bullet and (grudgingly) upgraded

3700x £300
aorus x570i £227
32gb e-die ram £146
2x mp510 960gb ssd £230

total damage = £903 (less £30 steam voucher when it arrives)

pc computing is getting expensive, and this isn't even bleeding edge... :(

I have a 4670k @ 4ghz (cannot go any higher on the OC) running gears 5 tech test the CPU was sitting at 95% but GPU was screaming at 100%. I'm looking to upgrade to a Vega 56 but wondering if that's going to make my CPU bottleneck the GPU considerably.

Is it worth upgrading this also or stick it out for now (would only be able to go for a 3600)

3600 + vega 56 is nothing to be sniffed at.
just out of interest what is your current spec?

Yeah seems like a good combo. Just wondering if I can get away without doing the CPU as it requires a new mobo and ram which makes the cost shoot up.

Currently
I5 4670k @ 4ghz
16gb ram
780ti

Full upgrade would be 575 or 250 just for GPU which I'm more likely to get agreed by my finance manager (wife)

simple answer is to get the gpu first, then if you don't find the performance uplift is enough...then get the cpu/mobo/ram after. :)

I put three gpus in my 4770k system and will test them all with Firestrike standard demo i keep the logs. But the system i have got around 12500 physics 6k combined and the gfx scores went from 16444 980 to 24498 1080 and i think 40k will be my 2080ti score roughly.

I was looking after this i can not double my gfx score to 49k i do not even think a Titan RTX can do that so that is not my ideal time. But now i see scores of i9 5.2ghz 9900k score 25k physics 13k combined thats double my 4770k. That would be a good upgrade so i guess now it is time to save? Do you think next year then we will see that performance much cheaper? That cpu is like £450 i guess the mobo and ram would be £1100?

And i found a 2400mhz core 49k Firestrike score from a Titan RTX. The problem is it does not tranate to double in games. Maybe going forward it will like Firestrike makes great use of the hardware.

Im gonna still wait till next year and see what happens. The core count rush is going to slow for IPC right? That is where most of the gaming improvements are typically seen when you move from DDR3 to DDR4 4200mhz you are going to feel that ram change alone is worth a good 10fps.

Playing Hell Let Loose at the moment as my main daily go to game on a overclocked 3770k and an overclocked 980ti poseidon. Getting over 60fps on high settings quite comfortably, the same goes for GTA5 as well. Just recently bought a 144mhz monitor and will be purchasing a second 980ti for the time being and see how i get on.

ok guys. just upgraded from 3770k @ 4.5 with 16gb 2400c11 ram to stock 3700x with 32gb 3200c16 ram (untuned).
both systems twinned with a 1080ti...all I can say is wow.
(and I don't even have the ryzen chipset drivers/ryzen power plans installed yet lol)

all those on the fence...just go ahead an upgrade. it's honestly worth the outlay ;)

@Plec lol do it.

Same upgrade from and same Gfx card. Yeah I was surprised with the noticable difference in gaming. In Afterburner, the GPU usage line is now fairly straight along the top of the graph whereby on the 3770k it was much more variable wannit?

totes. difference is perceptible. even without any monitoring software...

hah...don't have AB or any monitoring software installed yet lol, so can't really say. but i'd assume so.

I upgraded recently from a 3770K @4.7 16gbs 1866 to a 9700K and 3200 cl 14 and I never thought I'd say that I feel no need to oc this chip. Temps are better than my old ivybridge and at stock boost its much smoother.

I’m looking at upgrading my 4790K. I was hoping the 3600 would be a decent upgrade but I’m not sure it is. Also disappointed at the choice of mATX boards. Anyone got any experience going from 4790K to 3600/3700? I’d expect the 3700 to be an upgrade as it’s 80 quid more than what my i7 was all those years ago.
