The snip?!

Just a small cut and in he went fishing for the tube, he hooked it out through the incision and put a clamp on it.
He cut a small section of the tube out then popped the ends back in. Repeated for the other side. Good fun.
I was stabbed through my bicep and the doc put his finger in to check for debris. He told me not to look but I did anyway, his finger passed through my arm and poked out the other side....I puked :-)

Wait what, whats your arm got to do with it?

just for the hernia part. good to walk around after it :) though extremely tiring. now. these are words you will thank me for. eat LOTS of fibre. prunes etc. no doubt they will give you Co-codamol. that stuff makes you uber constipated. combine that with your soon to be inability to ' push ' makes for tiring, lengthy and painful work!

Yea i've been doing some reading on that too, seems like a fairly traumatic op to get done :( I planned on eating a bag of prunes a day at least for a week or two till things settled down, the most annoying part for me tho is no gym for three months! I could have cried lol

On the upside, if you do get an infection and the swelling is sufficient, you could perhaps use your gonads as a means of conveyance, space-hopper style.

lmfco! Urm i'll let you know how it go's lol

I'm 25 I Want the snip,

Don't want kids. And don't quote me saying I'll probably change my mind.

Thats your choise dude, just make sure your sure :) Age is irrelavent, im 26 but saying that i've got three kids and know that thats the lot lol.

Im so supprised how many of you guys have had it done i must say, and how popular this thread has become lol

Had it done a couple of years ago after baby no.3 arrived fit healthy.

In @ 6pm, out for 7pm - no drama, uncomfortable rather than painful I'd say (and the nurse was hot), few painkillers for a couple of days, nothing too bad, and back to work two days after.

Not had any problems since apart from a very occasional slight ache (not painful) and I was given the "all clear" a month after the op (ignore post #7 about having to wait a month) and been enjoying bareback since :-)

On my experience alone, I'd heartily recommend it if you're sure you're done with procreation.

I can't fathom the thought of this kind of body modification, especially given the astronomically high complication rate, eg 10% risk of chronic pain. It's also no wonder the NHS is doing so badly when it's funding expensive lifestyle surgery.

Also worth noting was the doc prescribed me on some serious pain killers percocet / oxycodone. Which kicked in after an hr or two, giving me a euphoric feeling. Maybe ask for some of those, to ease the after effects. I'm in the USA, so things may be different in the UK, in terms of what pain killers they give you?

Strong painkillers? You must be joking. Doctors in the UK don't even give them for car crash victims, patients have to illegally source them it's so desperate here.

My mate had it done just before Christmas. When we were out at New Year he started peeing blood and his Jackie Bungles had swelled into the size of a tangerine ....

lol body modification? Your making it out to be some kind of fun op done for individualism like tattoos or the like. If you work it out per couple, as most people who get it done are in serious realationships, one op is miles cheaper than a lifetime of pills/jabs and other contraceptives. One should perhaps engage brain before opening mouth ;)

Yeah, because abortions are much cheaper

Hardly anyone ends up having an abortion as a result of not having a vasectomy. On the the other hand having to take pain killers for the rest of their life as a result of post vasectomy pain costs a lot more than an abortion.

Yeah you should engage your brain, the NHS aren't buying everyone's contraception. Nor is it a lifetime supply as most people do it in their 40s which is not that far off the menopause. In contrast to the lifetime of medication that many patients who develop complications from a vasectomy have to take.

Condoms and the pill are free on the NHS.

Before I had the snip I never paid for condoms (wife couldn't take the pill - well she could but her sex drive went through the floor and experienced loads of other side effects) - just get yourself down to a family planing clinic and you'll get a bucket load (literally) of free condoms.

I had my op @ 32. My wife was 28 - as the menopause range varies she could be 30+ years off reaching it (her mum has only just started @ 59).

30 years of using condoms? No thanks.

No way?! That seems a long time. Guess they say that to be on the safe side.

No - that's wrong - I got the all clear after a month - once you've provided two clear samples you're good to go.

Sure they offer them but in my experience most people buy them.

I think you'll find the pill and pretty much all female contrception is free on the nhs, as are jonnys. Menopause can happen at any age but 51 is the averadge, thats 21 years away in our paticular case. Each is different but in mine the snips cheaper. Also the percentage of guys needing 'a lifetime of medication' is non exsitant i've read nothing about that nor did the doctor say anything, the biggst risk is loseing blood supply to the testicals but this happens 1-1000 and is quickly fixed.

lol who in the uk today pays for anything when they can get it for free? Now more so than ever? Never heard of the phrase 'out for nowt'?

I think you've just come here for an arguement and thats cool i'll feed the trolls all day long i find it amuseing. But thus far you've been pretty much wrong about everything :D

Was painful and uncomfortable for me for a few days, that's all. Some people seem to get over it quicker than others. I had a light infection though so that probably didn't help my recovery.

I know a chap who had a bad infection and his groin area swelled up like a melon :p

He was off work for almost 3 weeks :D

I laugh be ause I know him well and bad things always happen to him, what happened really put me off the idea as I was prepared to have it done when me and the Missus had had the amount of kids we want.

Any of you guys had the snip? I want it done but as i imagine a lot of guys would feel, its a knife cutting my presious bits! And is giving me the ***** lol. Going for a hernia op and the snip at the same time! I guess what im looking for is someone here to say 'i've had it, its fine you'll be ok' And put my mind at ease a bit lol. Ugh not excited

'I've had it, its fine you'll be ok'

Seriously, might be a bit tender for a couple of days and might look like a couple of aubergines in your pants. Mine failed first time, so I got it redone, same as first time, no problems.
