The Snowsports Thread 2015-16

Aye, been to Les Arcs last year. I tend to just try and explore the entire mountain unless I find something interesting to a bash a few runs out on. You can definitely manage a 4day/2day split between the two.

Just back from an amazing week in Morzine / Avoriaz.

Tons of snow but also quite a bit of rain. :( Only one sunny day

So much fun and I've really progressed on a snowboard. This is only my second snow holiday and I'm happy constantly linking turns on blues. Still braking down steep parts but I even had a go at off piste alongside a red run! So much fun :D

Just back from a week in Zurs. Great holiday. 2.5 days of sunshine, lots of snow, challenging runs on poor visibility days and fantastic accommodation with delicious food, good spa facilities to rest those wary legs after another good day out. Must try and squeeze a late week in after Easter!! Season is too short! :)

Is there an easy was back from valandary/ plan piesey to arcs 1800? Mrs will be knackered after a day in la plagne so looking for something easy!

Currently only looks like a lift up or a walk over a blue run.

Where you skiing or boarding in la plagne?

Already have a holiday booked for the end of the month, but was just wondering for future reference and in particular for next season 2017, where people look to find late deals?

Fortunately due to my shift pattern I can be quite flexible regarding dates and getting the time off without a great deal of notice. Unlikely this would be the case for most of my friends that would like to join me, so are there any operators who cater for single skiers?

Thanks

Finally off on Saturday to Morzine/Avoriaz. :)
I have a pair of old oakley goggles with orange lenses. I was planning on changing these before going but time has run away from me... Can anyone recommend a cool pair with next day postage :D
For reference I like the edgeless style.

Aye, looking at the map it's all blues back over. From memory though, you would take Grizzly up and then it's an easy blue over to the bottom of Derby and just keep going until you hit 1800. Mostly cat track type stuff if I remember right.

I was skiing. One day we made the fatal mistake of coming back from La Plagne via the bottom of the Plan Leschaux/Bauches lifts. Avoid this like the plague, it's a 5 mile flat cat track. It pretty much finished off one of the girls that was with us. You need to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to make the cable car back, especially if you're in 1950/2000 as you need a few more lifts after that to get back over.

First Snowboarding holiday in a few weeks for me, going to Snowbombing so quite a lot of drinking is going to be involved too :D

I woke up today and the weather was perfect for boarding, so I decided not to work today and spent it on the slopes instead :)

Life is difficult :p

Thanks for the tips! Only read today but we went yesterday and got the last lift back over and nearly missed the lifts from villandry.

The Mrs was knackered so only went to la plagne that once. I'd like to go back tho!

Finally, off to Avoriaz tomorrow and cannot wait :D

Good luck in Whistler! I went to Sunshine and Lake louise and the Canadian resorts are amazing. Whistler is on the bucket list... :)

Then heading off to Whistler on the 22nd for 8 days! (aslong as my Canadian eTa gets approved...

Wow it's a good job I came to this thread. So much going on lately and booking 2 weeks in Vancouver was a spur of the moment same day decision so applying for this totally slipped my mind.

I'll be in Whistler for 1-2 nights end of the month.

My trip isn't a boarding trip - but i'm meeting a friend and she's going to drive us up to Whistler and also recommends we visit Kelowna too. I've not heard of that so should be interesting.

Had great boarding weather here not long ago but by the time my gear arrived the weather was awful. It's just really wet and windy here at the minute :(
So can't wait to get out to Canada and get some boarding in. I'm just going to take my boots/bindings and rent a board I think.

There is actually a leniency period at the moment, but better to be safe! They came through 72 hours after we applied, so was getting a bit worried but think it was just because I've had surgery in the last 6 months so a person had to look at it not just a computer.

Can't wait - conditions look awesome. 163cm in the last week...

Yeah I seen something about that but think it ends 15th March. Only $7 too so there is no cost factor.
But yes it must have just been that as mine came though after 2-3 minutes.
I wasn't sure what to put really as my passport is British, but I left the UK permanently...But I also still have an address there registered to me and a bank account linked to it...so I just applied as if I'm living in the UK still.

It does look stunning there I must admit. Kind of gutted I'll only get 1-2 days. But i have a lot of other things I am going there for so don't want to compromise any of that. I can see me coming away and then wanting to go back for a full week next season :D
