The Snowsports Thread 2015-16

On my way to Courmayeur, reports say it's had a fair bit of snow in the Aosta Valley over the last week and is set to snow all week.
First time skiing, really looking forward to it!

Still hammering down. Think I will be riding my hovercraft :)

Most smile inducing board on the planet if there is fresh (perhaps twinned with the Gentemstick one of my pals rides). Tailless hoot!

how much are peoples transfers from airports costing? they seem expensive and im weighing up flying vs eurostar (also expensive!)

preferably lookingnat la plagne\les arcs, whats the best airport to go for??

Off to VT at the start of Feb. Does anyone do any fitness work before going out there? I'm reasonably fit - gym/running/climbing 5 times a week or so, but I always find that skiing kills me!

Well I live in the alps, so I thought I should hire a snowboard this season and see if I can spend more time on my feet than my arse/face.

I'll be boarding once or twice a week once the weather is decent.

Haven't been boarding last year due to some other holidays I had planned in - not sure if Icelands slopes will match the Alps where I tend to go but moving there in 17 days and my board and belongings are due to ship over on the 1st March. So with any luck I can catch a couple of weekends before the season ends once I'm settled in.

I've missed it so look forward to getting back out there!

So buy one, don't even think of hiring if you're doing it that much.

Off to Hakuba/Nagano in Japan on Saturday, was supposed to be a trip for the guaranteed powder.

Now it looks like Europe will have way more snow than Japan during Jan :(

Dude if you're going all that way, why didn't you go to Hokkaido?? Niseko has never let me down, or anyone I know in 5 years since I first went. The geography is perfect for regular fresh dry powder. Arranging my trip for 2017 at the moment

My favourite run, the snow has always been that good when I've been there (not my vid).

I've been looking at a few places for a cheap ski trip. The GF has only been once, so would need to be mostly beginner slopes.

A lot of resorts i've looked at so far though don't seem to have had a great deal of snow, and approaching mid season, that worries me.

Determined to get back to Niseko next year. Not happening this year. The place is just incredible.
