You know, it’s tempting, the more I use it, the more I’m used to it the more that needle swings. Above all else I need a camera and system that I can rely on. This A73 is my way to dip my toes into it to cut through all the (often) internet hype to see it how it does in my world, as opposed to taking someone else’s word for it.

It’s currently blowing most of the doubts away and creating some doubts for Canon.
I still have not made a full switch on sony myself so take your time!

Im close to do doing so though

What you said was essentially placatory fluff.

No you're just being too stubborn to acknowledge the point, telling a beginner they should buy an expensive camera because it's a better tool is technically correct but it's also bad advice as they'll benefit more from understanding what makes a good photo than what makes a good tool. It's not a complex point.

But hey no whatever you're right, there's no nuance to any points, everything is black and white, only technical accuracy ever matters, good job you.

Lets just agree to disagree before it gets any more silly. :)

Really considering the A7iii as I've had my 5D3 for 6 years now and things have moved on a lot. I love the idea of a smaller body and I'll probably look at getting an adapter to use my Canon lenses while I make the transition over to Sony glass. Really seems like a very impressive camera.

If you are happy with the resolution of the 5D3, the A73 is a great upgrade. The 5D4 is the logical upgrade but I cannot deny A73 would be my go to camera now, the only thing I would miss is the build in GPS that I know where i've been taking the shots but I hear I can set up my phone to link to it to get it to work.

I have finally succumbed. After seeing all the shots and people raving I am going to sell up my m43 system and go A73. Will have about £7k to spend but looking at the glass it looks like that will only get me three lenses to begin with from the 7 I currently have. Which three is the question though......

Not sure 70-200 is going to cut it though. I currently have the 300 f4 with tc on mft which is 840mm on FF. Big step down to 200. Was thinking the 100-400 plus 1.4 TC would have to be one lens. And there are no primes on your list. I love my 45mm effective 90mm f1.2 lens on my mft.

Plus my £7k includes buying the body. I think your three busts me

-100-400mm + 1.4TC
-Tamron 28-75mm (provided reviews are as good as initial impressions)
-Sony FE 85mm f1.8
-Sony 28mm f2

Otherwise, maybe tell people what your full set of needs and current lensesare?

Well a bit of everything. My current glass on mft is as follows to give you an idea

Laowa 7.5mm f2
Olympus 12-40 f2.8
Olympus 40-150 f2.8
Olympus 300mm f4
TC 1.4
Olympus 17mm F1.2
Olympus 25mm f1.2
Olympus 45mm f1.2
Olympus 75mm f1.8
Olympus 30mm f3.5 macro

Used to be mainly landscapes and astro pics. This last year got into portraits and wildlife a lot more and most recently trying my hand at street photography.

And it looks like I currently have 9 lenses which will become only three until I can afford to add to them

Then just buy your lenses in stages you don't need to get them all at once. Take your time, read reviews, and choose carefully as and when you identify a need.

Looks to me like you have more lenses than you needed with M43 anyway. :)

You’re pretty balls deep in M43, it’s going to be eye watering to move.

I’m not so bad, got a GX8 and GX85 along with:

- Oly 12-40mm f2.8
- Pana-Leica 25mm f1.4
- Oly 45mm f1.8
- Oly 75mm f1.7
- Oly 9-18mm
- Pana 14-140mm II

The thought of moving and the cost involved is pretty hard to get around.
