Straight out of camera.

One is Canon 35L mk2. One is Sony Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4. Which one do you prefer?

Top one. Because i prefer the skin colours, also more pleasing without the guy in the background.

Looking deeper composition is slightly different so could be a tad unfair regards lighting.

Top one. Better tone, smoother background and the face doesn’t look to be as dark.

Not sure there’s much in it for me. Top looks warmer but prob just slightly different WB.

It wasn’t a scientific test, just for fun. The Zeiss is the warmer one.

At a glance a lot of people automatically prefer the warmer tone, however I find that to be harder to edit because it is not as neutral and it is overly saturated. It is like trying to edit an JPEG curve vs a more flat Canon look.

Have one but don’t use it because I find the Lim’s leather case give me the base I need without the weight as I don’t need the side. It is well made though.

Yep me. Well built and gives my little finger somewhere to grab. Makes tripod swapping between portrait and landscape easier.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback and photos. Have ordered one from rainforest so can always return it if I don’t get on with it.

I currently use the Peak Design Capture Clip V3 which I quite like for hiking, so guess I’ll have to decide between the two (unless it’ll screw into the bottom of the Smallrig, but I suppose that half defeats the purpose of the Arca-Swiss mounts.

Are the cases any good? I just got my A7riii today and thinking about a case for it.

The Lim’s is great IMO. It adds the extra inch to the height that allow my pinky to go somewhere. Access to battery door and tilting the screen not affected. The only point you have trouble accessing is the micro usb but you can still get to usb-c.

Cheers for that. I’ve never ever used the USB ports so that won’t bother me.

It also keeps the tripod mount centred, however it loves it back a little so if you put it on a gimbal the centre of gravity goes back and you need to compensate more.

That’s it.

Oh, the base is arca Swiss compatible.
