Does the ISO difference matter?

I see A7Riii having a 32000 ISO and the A7iii having a 208000 (expanded) ISO?

Where is currently the best price for the A7Riii?

Cheers :)

Oh there are lots of things the a7iii does better than the a7r. High iso is one of them. Even ignoring the extra range, the a7iii is vastly superior in the noise department from 12,000 upwards.

Yeah, and how often do you shoot at '12000 upwards'? lol...

You would be surprised. I did a whole set at iso 52,000 the other week.

Anyway that’s beside the point. If you are a landscape photographer then it’s very unlikely you will ever use any high iso.

The two cameras are both slightly different and are both slightly suited to different purposes. All depends what you want for the camera.

Owls. At twilight with the 100-400gm and tc 1.4 at f8. In order to keep the shutter speed fast enough I was shooting between 20,000 and 50,000 over the course of an hour.
Interesting, do you have any samples to hare? Would be very curious how well the A7III does in those conditions. Was the AF able to function ok?

AF focussed superb even at f8. I was amazed and certainly wouldn’t have been able to do that with my previous cameras.

If you are on FB, link to them here https://www.facebook.com/howard.pearson.10/media_set?set=a.1710099392406198&type=3&fb_dtsg_ag=Adz2yt89QqYZK_ctm7eU-B0s80-qjf0mr5drhdAB4s5wBQ:AdyDiZrOvbcyRX5yqwk2OVUclZjxd-_ortP6PZEGwU36Aw
I am about to go out so if you can’t see them then I’ll post links up later.

2 quick ones, both 100% crops as well
Wow, those were all ISO 50000+?

Some great shots made, be proud! :)

Oh man this is hilarious timing. During Tony Nothrups review of the EOS-R he had a card failure and lost part of an entire shoot...

SD card fails during the Canon EOS-R review https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/curiosity-sd-card-fails-during-the-canon-eos-r-review/

Now looking forward to seeing all of the irrational fanboys splutter and eat some humble pie after being so adamant that the likelihood of failure is so low and 1 card slot is fine etc etc... :D

PS: I have the exact same SD cards as Tony... and 2 slots. ;)

I’ve had a 10% off code from JL come through the door, which means the A7iii would have £200 off :o why is there so much temptation to spend money all the time :p :D
