I also have a £10 one I use a spare phone charger to charge it. It’s a USB powered one and can use powe bank if needed. Basically my travel one.
Nope, you can charge the battery through the camera but you need a charger if you don't want to have your camera plugged in.

I have 6 Sony batteries now, yes...I bought 4...that's £300 in batteries + £85 for the charger.
