The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

I paid £75 for the batteries, hence £300 number (4 batts).

I went to Canon in the evening because i don't have any Sony Flashes yet and I need ETTL with a mix of Manual.

Ah my bad, I never took in to account the 2 free ones with the bodies :p
Have you looked into anything like the rotolight? I have one here that does that but I've only used it once (it was free)

You only get 1 battery with the Sony A camera, not 2 :p Unless you mean 1 each from both Sony A7iii's :p

Sorry. I was out photographing an illuminated abbey Friday night but then got a last minute offer to go hot air ballooning over York on Saturday morning which meant leaving at 4am and only got back last night at midnight! Worth it though!

is aluminum carbonate soluble

Will post it up after breakfast

Is that the cheap GM or the expensive tamron :p
That's the 85mm f/1.8. :) I don't think it's coming today though, ordered at 7.59 and the cut off was 8pm, it says being delivered today but no carrier tracking info and customer service couldn't track it.

So it'll be tomorrow most likely :(

Lenses sorted (thanks Greebo), camera body to be ordered tomorrow so next up flash recommendations?

Was hoping I would be able to use one of my canon flashes in manual but from what I'm reading people are getting mixed results.

Godox seem to be very popular but there's so many different models, any pointers?

I got the Godox TT685S HSS.

It takes 4 aa batteries. The only difference between that one and the V860 is the V860 has an inbuilt lithium ion battery. Lasts longer than 4 AA and slightly faster refresh time but once its dead, its dead whereas the 685 you can just put another 4 AA batteries in. Oh and it costs about have the price.

Remote trigger works dead easy with Godox as well.

IMO no other flash comes close for the money. I think you could buy 3 685s and a command trigger for the price of the SOny equivalent.

When i figure out how, i will :p

Custom buttons
Find Eye-AF
Assign to AEL

Then to activate it, press AEL and hold it down. Point it to any faces, including photos. Let go and it’ll back to normal focus mode.

You can set it to AF-On if you like but that’s my normal back button focus button for non faces subjects and don’t want the camera to look for eyes.
