Didn’t it say in the release notes somewhere that it wouldn’t work if it was assigned to another button?
Is it still worth getting a 1st gen A7? Looking at getting a camera for some photography and video work, and have been looking at:
- A7
- A6300
- X-T20
I owned an A7 and it was a horrible experience.
Why so?

That has all changed with the A7III series (other than the size which if you don't like then that can't really be helped).I was used to canon and the A7 feels like a toy and AF was unreliable & colour science junk.

Do any of you Sony A7/9iii users have any solutions for the lack of a flippy screen? I kind of need one, especially for video. Would a Atmos ninja be the perfect solution? Not sure how heavy or portable it would be.
New app now. Imaging Edge I think its called. Much, much, much improved over the god awful playmemories app.
Some people get away with using the smartphone app, gives an idea of focus and framing at least. Failing that, a SmallHD monitor would probably do the trick. Atmos is a bit overkill unless you really need it.
But don't you lose autofocus if you use the apps?
..
I tried the app this morning before I went to work and the functionality seems really low, you can hardly change an settings with it? I was expecting much more settings including the new interval timer etc.New app now. Imaging Edge I think its called. Much, much, much improved over the god awful playmemories app.
