The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

Is it worth £400 more though? Do you know if it only works with that specific lens?
Sorry man but these are incredibly basic questions. Please at least do some basic research like read online reviews and watch youtube videos before buying a camera of this calibre.

Yes, it’s worth £400 if you want that sensor which is lass leading.

That lens will work with it, it’s the G Master.

I read that as him asking if the *discount* only works with that lens or if it might work with other lenses ;)

I have done plenty of research about it thanks, I was asking for his opinion, he seems to have used both... I haven't, I only use an A6500 at the moment, so any insights are welcome, before I drop that kind of money.

The default answer is if you don’t find your current camera limiting then don’t spend the money. Unless you made a killing on bitcoin ;)

I would like more dynamic range and better auto focus, which both of the cameras mentioned would provide, it's just the matter of which to get if its £400 difference?

I don’t think the auto focus on the A6500 is bad? The A73 has arguably better auto focus.

As for DR, do you push the shadows a lot?

No it's not bad at all, I just wanted better that's all, I take sunset pictures a bit, so I am underexposing for sun. mattywhitt_ on Instagram if anyone wants to critique me badly, pretty new to photography, but always trying to learn.

if so get the A7r3!!!

I have the the A7r3 and a9 so shout me any questions

matthew - I have watched hours of youtube videos on the A73 and the A7r3.
The general consensus is - if you don't need the extra MP then get the A73 as it is essentially the same camera (with better video and autofocus system)
What do you do with these sunset shots? If it is looking at them on the computer, and then maybe print one then the A73 will be more than enough for you.
The A7R3 is aimed more at professionals that are printing up big or who really just 'need' those extra pixels.

Also while the GM lenses are the best native lenses for the sony - you would be fine with some converted canon L glass for your use by the sounds of it, I'm personally going to try it out with a 24-70 2.8L from Canon until I find it limiting, as they can be picked up for around £550 and should hold most of their value. If in the future I feel I 'need' some native sony glass then I will get some.

Also the offer works with the A7III
