The Tesla Thread

Sorry, I dont know the previous discussion, but if you really would like another M3, is it worth waiting until your child is 3, if this is the case?

Unfortunately I can't because that's 11 months from now. I have an ID.3 on order with a delivery date of Jan 2022, but I'm starting to see rumours of the timelines slipping badly (eg. cars with a build week of 27 still haven't been built). We have one car at the moment and it's starting to limit us.

I refuse to pay over the odds for a second hand car, and the Model 3 is fairly priced in a market that's taking the mickey at the moment.

That's the one. As I think @Russinating said, I have a reputation around these parts :p

I wish it were that easy. Unfortunately on long journeys 2 year olds require a lot of attention. I've been assured he'll get better once he hits 3.

So, about that car seat experience? ;)
I have a 10 year old, never sat in the back with her and she never died ;)

Despite all of my moaning about my last Model 3 in this thread, I am coming around to the idea of getting another one due to slipping timelines for my ID.3 order.

Does anyone have any experience with 360 degree car seats for up to 4 year olds in the forward-facing configuration (like this one) behind the driver's seat? Do they force you to push the seat forward so much that it compromises your driving position? For reference, I am 178cm (5ft 10") tall.

Silly question, but why not put the car seat behind the passenger seat? I'm 6ft and there's plenty of room behind the seat for passengers, so I couldn't see an issue with that seat. I haven't measured it though.

I'm 6ft, there is not enough room behind the drivers seat for our 360 degree car seat which me in a comfortable position. I did have to do it once and it was OK for a short journey but anything longer than 30 minutes would have been a real pain.

I'll grab the model of our seat later as I think we have one of the larger ones so your experience may vary.

Give me a shout when you have a son ;)
Male mini-me is quite happy in the back on his own :D

Thanks for the info. Was the seat in the rear or forward facing position?

Ah ok, fair enough.

Here we go: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TC6NN8K

I went with these over vinyl plates because a) vinyl plates aren't technically legal b) you can either remove the entire plate holder and stick the velcro directly on the bumper or you can remove the front frame piece of the plate holder and stick it to the rear bit. The video example below shows this latter approach using sticky tape, but I'll be doing the same with velcro as I don't fancy removing the entire holder.

I tried the sticky pad approach but the curvature of the front bumper meant I wasn't confident of them staying on. So I remove the outer surround, drilled the plates and screwed them onto the back plate. Looks a lot better.

Any one find in the sat nav to be a bit shall we say rubbish ? It constantly gets roundabout exits wrong. It says take the first exit. But the map has the second exit highlighted (and 2nd is the right one!). I thought i imagined this but it’s happened a few times now and i recorded it well. It’s the most fundamentally flaw its literally a sat nav telong me to go wrong way!! But it knows the right way!

And it says ‘destination is on the right’ when it’s actually the left. It’s done ross about 50% of the time it’s comical how bad it is. I mean 50k for a sat nav that doesn’t work is pretty funny

Can also confirm kids can amazingly sit in the back and have done since they were born (1 of each). Occasionally I let one sit in the front but that's mainly when I've only got one otherwise I'd have to sit in the back:cry:. I've never understood why people do.

Cool, thanks. We only use it in the forward-facing position now.
We have a high back booster for our 4 year old, and was also fine in a front facing baby seat behind me at 6ft4. Regarding space under drivers seat my ten year old was moaning about this. I just raised the height of the drivers seat a bit and he could fit feet under - didn’t cause a massive issue in terms of driving position.

That’s nice. Did you just measure the gap between the two fixings and drill holes in the plate to match?

I imagine you had to flex the plate to get the holes in the plate to align with those on the car (because of the curvature)?

I've never noticed, been the best sat nav in a car I've ever had.

First wash today. Can’t wait for the orbital black wheel covers to be delivered, the aero wheels are already bugging me :p

Nice one, thanks for the info! It sounds mostly positive. I’m tempted to go to the Guildford sales/service center and test the car seat for myself in one of their showroom models.
