The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

How is the first day launch going to work anyway? Is the initial offering going to be like for the nVidia FE cards with reference cards sold directly by AMD? Or are they sending out reference cards to the various usual component resellers?

Where did you hear there would be 2 hours of stock? If demand is high that means there must be at least a couple million of cards in stock for launch day

Didn't say anything about stock levels, that guy i quoted said if there was only an hours worth of stock it would be the same as a second of stock. Which still has me wondering

PS5's review with some tech data

Normal gaming power draw: 200w. This is the same as the Xbox Series X. This shows up the efficiency loss with high clock speeds on RDNA 2 (PS5 draws same power at 2.2ghz even though its 40% smaller than the Series X which uses 1.85ghz)

Out of interest, the PS4 PRO used 170w. The PS5 does run very cool - heat coming out the vents maxes out at 45c

try telling that to the dude who paid £700 for a 3070 on the other thread.
more fool him;) i so wanted to stay AMD, will leave it till new yr, both have their issues, 3070 vram obviously and 6800 the price. my nitro is still hanging in there for time being only running 2 fans:D

The only concern I see regarding big Navi is transistor budget. Seems like the infinity cache took out 7-8 billion transistors of the total 26.8 billion.. I get a feeling this card might not age well

Yes, that was my main concern too when I really sat down and thought about Big Navi... the transistor buidget.

The transistor budget seems like a big deal.

I hate the transistor budget.

Anyone else as worried as I am about the transistor budget?

It performs at X compared to Y. What's time got to do with transistor count.

You can look at it both in absolute and relative terms.
For current games AMD has estimated 58% hit on infinity cache, that might change when more complicated calculations are performed more frequently in upcoming titles
On the other hand, new games might start putting all that Ampere horsepower to better use.
Just a conjecture, till someone can actually profile workloads on these cards.
