The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

Yep, Direct Storage is only coming out mid 2021 and then after that developers have to implement it. I don't know what the heck RTX IO is, probably just Nvidia trying rebrand Direct Storge but it's the same thing. Nvidia bragged about cause that's what Nvidia does, they hype up and sell you a GPU now but with features you can't use for 2 years
If I remember correctly from the Nvidia presentation, it was about GPU loading compressed game data from SSD and extracting then inside GPU using GPU cores to reduce latency and load on CPU.

Ditto, he is completely and genuinely nuts and I have no idea how people can do otherwise.

So, you are wrong. The post was 5 pages back, then I upped it and all of a sudden he decided to replicate it by adding nothing substantial to the thread. Who cares who is on his ignore list and what wrong did I do here?
Don't troll, please.

The more expensive 3070's around the high £500's were hanging about unsold for hours yesterday.
To me personally, anything over £500 is way too much for any 3070. Rather be a bit more patient and snipe a 3080 FE for £649.

Absolutely agree, the extra VRAM and ~30% faster. The overlap between AIB custom versions and the FE highlight how much extra is being handed in ££ and Im sure stock availability clouds people's decisions as they cant be patient.

That's if you can actually get hold of 3080 FE, you could use the 3070 until you get a 3080 and then sell the 3070 for a profit anyway. Time is the only thing you can't you buy, if you enjoyed a couple of months of gaming on your new gpu who cares.

Well its hardly likely people are on onboard graphics and their really missing out is it? If time is that precious to you then perhaps forget about the brand new gen items and maybe enjoy life in other ways?..

Sounds like an unironic echo of the infamous "Just Buy It" review.

How much of your time do you want to spend without the latest Nvidia GPU

You're probably right but we're talking about paying an extra £50 or £60 for a 3070 if I wanted one I'd just buy it.

It would make sense.. if the 3080 was £700+ (which it is through AIB's) but as @TNA pointed out your into the 3080FE territory, in reality terms that card has better chance of lasting longer throughout your desktop upgrade path's lifecycle - if your going to spend £50/60/70 more than FE then your getting desperate as just check the pricing of these nutters:

I thought the 3070 was meant to be $500? that's about £480 after Tax.

Nvidia MSRP is fake.

I know right.. and the reviewers + tubers are all making it out these cards are just £650 or £469 whereas the ones that are sporadically available are actually £720 or £499 which is around a 10% markup climbing more dependent on the brand/rgb/premiums.

I was all set to get a 5800X and a 6800XT for my next build but over the past week i've been giving it some thought. I've never paid anywhere near a grand for a CPU/GPU combo. In fact I try to keep said combo down to around half that or £600 at the most. So paying that for just a graphics card isn't sitting right with me.

I'm actually starting to think i'll just pick up a used 3700X for £200 and keep my 5700XT for a bit.
Exactly the same here, got caught up in the hype but think it's too much now.

I'm going for a PS5 instead since there is barely any difference in image quality (especially since all games are console ports now).. will still use the current PC for FPS/strategy games but that's about it.

Plan is to upgrade the PC when the cost is worth it and I'll get 3x console performance so 2022/2023.

Did you pre-order? I think they are too 'out of stock' so it applies to everything not solely GPU/CPU launches of this nature.
