Same. As a younger man I did compete at CS original but that was the only game apart from maybe WC3 which is not FPS. Back then and even now the internet connection is more important than anything.

As I live rural and the latency is always poor there is no point in having the best rig in the world if your on >100ms your at a disadvantage whatever hz your gaming at..

Says the man who bought a 3090 :D

Yeah its the only way in the current market. Its all very well nitpicking at flaws but if you cant use one then all your doing is discussing to kill time. It could be a different story after xmas if stock flows in fast, you cant bypass the availability yet, there are people still in queues from day 1 and it sucks.
How's your 3090 mate, has it arrived yet? :)

I have been a gamer since the Atari console and Spectrum days but never been that good in truth. As I get older, I am more of a GFX whore and truthfully, happy gaming at ~45 fps in games for the most. Only FPS I like more but being cannon fodder is the norm for me now :D

My first computer was the TI99-4A cartridges but you could program on it. My brother was a lot older than me so I got all his hand-me-downs and he was the ultimate computer nerd. My eyes/reactions/dadness mean I prefer gameplay then graphic quality these days and wouldnt try to compete with enthusiasts unless its more of an even playing field. I dont have hours to sink into games these days, but I do go through phases of trying. :D

So as said by many before, if you game at 4K, go for the 3080.

I can't imagine TBH buying one of these newer more expensive cards for 1080p/1440p over last gens excellent second hand cards.

Not with 10GB of VRam you shouldn't, you will regret that.

I won't. Drop down one setting in textures if ever needed. Problem solved. What is there to regret? I am used to tweaking my games as I have been a 4K gamer since 2014. Zero regrets.

Not like we are 5+ years away from the release of next gen cards. There will be a handful at most (I doubt even that) of games that I want to play where I will be forced to turn down texture one notch between now and the release of next gen cards.

Bloody hell they are taking their time. I am used to next day. So you think you will get it by Wednesday?

Unreal, hate when they use them as a courier. Yeah I would say lucky if it is tomorrow, on order detail if its Wednesday (as that is on original email). Still thats nearly a week which is why I wince when I see people getting next day.

I was lucky, I ordered my FE on a Friday and did not pay for Saturday shipping. Got it Saturday anyway. Free shipping too :D

So you're quite happy paying £750 for a card that already can't do the job its designed for? Surely a card where you don't have to reduce the image quality would be better, no?

I wonder if this can be carried on in future games ? this being one of the newer games

I think RDNA2 is going to be one of those things that rapidly matures into this.

How did you come to that conclusion? I paid no way near that price for starters.

Yes I am very happy. What is a few titles when it does the job very well in everything else? Hell I was on a RX 580 for ages and it would not do the job in half my steam library. Still had loads of fun with it. What's a few games compared to that? I will be making a small loss and selling it before next gen cards are out anyway.

Main thing is I get to play Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2 and Bloodlines 2. This card is better suited for that.

You cant judge a trend on one example. Its like saying because one person jumped out of a plane from 20000 feet, rolled on hiting the ground and lived. Then everyone in future might not need a parachute.

Thats testing phase.

You test the height in whch a person can fall off the plane and survive lol
