How did you come to that conclusion? I paid no way near that price for starters.

Yes I am very happy. What is a few titles when it does the job very well in everything else? Hell I was on a RX 580 for ages and it would not do the job in half my steam library. Still had loads of fun with it. What's a few games compared to that? I will be making a small loss and selling it before next gen cards are out anyway.

Main thing is I get to play Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2 and Bloodlines 2. This card is better suited for that.
3080 retailed at £700 ish ?

How did you get it for much much cheaper?

You cant judge a trend on one example. Its like saying because one person jumped out of a plane from 20000 feet, roll on hiting the ground and lived. Then everyone in future might not need a parachute.

Trend? its been a trend over the years for Nvidia to be stingy on VRam capacity and it always becomes a problem, 10GB is quite obviously not enough for 4K.

You said you would reduce the image quality, if it had more than 10GB VRam you wouldn't have to.
And you said £750 which I paid a lot less than that after selling the game codes.

As I said, what is a few games if it comes to that? Nothing. More vram would mean more money. You should know better than anyone that that would be a deal breaker. £600 is a lot as it is. Even you don't want to pay that yourself.

The 6800XT has 16GB and its cheaper.

But you already know I game at 4K. You already know I have G-Sync monitors, you already know all the games I want to play most at the moment happen to be nvidia sponsored. So what does that have to do with anything in my particular case?

Just test it without paying on random item and see for yourself. Just make sure it won't ask you for any authorisation from Amazon or your bank otherwise it defeat the purpose

Yes that seems to work fine, many thanks for the help :)

You have to turn down RTX settings on those cards. So it’s either turn down textures on 3080 or RTX settings on 6800 XT.

RTX is going to become a unicorn now that consoles can't run it. the reason there are only about 10? RTX games in 2 years is because Nvidia have to pay devs to use it.

You bought a midrange card and its performance also isn't going to hold up for long vs RDNA2. its pretty quickly going to get blown into the weeds by it.

DXR is supported on xBox, so is DirectML. AMD and MS are working on a version of DLSS called super resolution for DXR games on xbox and windows.

You wish, you bough the wrong card.
Come on Humbug.... You are better than that. Plus how can you be saying stuff like that when you went a bought a 5700XT to then sell it to buy a 2070S?

Things are never just as black and white as that. Everyone has individual needs, there is no right and wrong card. Silly thing to say imo.
