Stock is a major factor obviously, but for me what we've seen today means we now have two very competitive choices. Its not a no brainer to cancel the 3080 orders assuming the stock is coming, but its great that they trade blows with each other and you can now pick what brand/features you prefer without any real compromises.

By the sounds of it, you need a 5000 CPU, to get the best out of them, so that makes the 6800XT, starting at nigh on £900, assuming you already have an AMD board, you can just drop the CPU straight into, if not, then as well as the CPU, you'll need the mobo etc... as well, pushing it even higher.

Looking forward seeing the 6800xt partner cards boost clocks

Not sure you can make that argument just yet. Not until you see how they perform head to head with nv on an intel system.

Humbug has been correct for a year in that thread it’s just that no one was listening.

Lol.
The flip side of course is he's spent the last 5 years being wrong about AMD's GPU's lol.

This is the first time the hype has been close to accurate for an AMD GPU launch (As frankly, while it's clear AMD are on to a winner as far as performance goes, it's not the "smackdown" people are hyping it to be, or by that token we'd seen Nvidia's 2070 Super was smacking down the 5700XT etc etc)

Buildzoid admitted he will get the 6900XT for that 3% performance gain :), but fair play to him he said its a bad buy vs the 6800XT, like the 3090.

I am glad AMD is looking competitive again in the GPU front, but these prices will be gouged as well sadly :(
