I can see why Sony have done what they have, only time will tell if it work out for them... I was actually going to cancel my PS3 pre-order (shipped before I could!) as the nerfing of the BC really annoyed me...
What TV do you currently have? I had a Panny PW6 SD screen which still showed an improvement using HD over SD. A HD set isn't essential, but is nice
well i can understand the dont have to buy it approach. but the main point is sony basically forcing a console buyer to buy something he doesn't really need to be able to play the newest batch of games .
i before you say anything ......yes i realise he doesn't need the newest console either, but if he wants it he's being charge more than is need for the privilage. sony are taking advantage of thier customers

has no vga so i'm runing my 360 through component
I really can't beleive just how a lot of you on here have been hurt in someway by Sony's PR... it's a bleeding peice of consumer electronics ffs.
All big companies use spin, PR and BS to sell their products and all media companies put their own spin and BS on the situation when reporting it and very often quote things out of context just to keep in with the present media bangwagon - it happens in everything, just look how blown out of proportion the whole celebrity Big Brother scandal went. Don't always beleive everything you read in the press, including websites.
The videos shown at E3 were target renders and iirc it's quite normal for these to look much better than the games turns out to be, and I see no difference in this to adverts like the ones for something like lost planet being a completely pre-renderred custscene rather than in game footage. It's quite normal for this kind of stuff to go on in this industry but normally it passes most of us by without causing too much upset.

Tbh nothing doing, yes we know Sony have made a hash (after a million or so threads one gets the picture) but you would think these consoles (PS3, 360) were the source of all life the way people carry on.
1) The PS3 is expensive full stop. Ok so it can do loads of stuff but £425 is a lot of money + games etc etc. It may be a good value BR player but that doesn't nake it cheap.
2) The majority of population don't have HD capeable systems or will play their console on an HD tv (14" colour TV in the bedroom ***).
3) The PS3 is not a next gen console or 4D. Its the latest gen seeing as we have already had the graphics in consoles for 1 1/2 years already. None of its features are new. Even BR has been around since before the conosle. Wireless conectivity, motion sensing controllers...oo thats new
In terms of gaming graphics its last gen compared to what the PC offers.
4) The 360 is the cheapest latest gen console period. It may not have a big hard drive or built in HD player etc but it plays the same games just as well.
5) Unless you buy a PS3 your life expectancy will drop by 12.345 years.

I think some people feel the need to justify the purchase that they have made by slagging off rival hardware.
If I had the money I would buy a PS3, seems a nice piece of kit, bu tthe fact is I have an Xbox360 which I am more then happy with right now. I dont want Blue Ray and there is no killer games that I would sell my soul for to get a PS3.
But when the price comes down, which it will, and the great games come out, which they will, and when I can damn well afford one, err maybe

Its not a personal issue for me that i will loathe Sony for and will always dis their products etc. Im not like that i have already several thousand pounds worth of Sony gear sitting here and aint put off in the slightest by their brand. What i and im sure some others dont agree with is you guys that cant even own up to when Sony do such things and talk such nonsense PR regards this machine. Why defend a company that promises you games like GT PSP GT HD, tells you six AXIS is awesome, rumble is last gen hardware etc.
For a company that has had so long to ready the PS3 its well below PAR on a "gonna blow everyone away level". Thats what they showed and sold the PS3 as originally. Problem is some of you still think it is exactly that when it aint.
Yet you see when a small crowd of excited little boys have to import their PS3 cause they cant wait any longer and have their "oh look what i got" threads they dont represent the typical gamer here neither.
Its always oh but this is coming and that is coming. PS3 is gonna be no.1 again when xyz. Alll of you guys defend everything and agree with none of the negative but imo justified public backlash.
Ive said it before and i will say it again Sony has a major problem with the PS3 price, its lack of exclusives and Blu Ray being seen as a untested platform.
When Sony PS3 overcomes this then their onto a winner.

Having got a new 1080p capable projector ordered i dont think i need your charity. Im just about to spend as much as a PS3 costs on a racing seat for Forza 2 thanks, as tbh i think i will use the seat and wheel more than the PS3 at this time.
