The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

That just further bolsters my view! I am sure that exhaust will sound great on another engine, but that engine and that exhaust do not marry up sonically. This is often the case when people install aftermarket exhausts that have no sonic-tuning that matches the character of the engine so it all sounds perfect in combo.

When an exhaust is louder than the induction noise on an N/A M car, you know it's all gone wrong.

Someone is running a lot of rear negative camber, almost only using half the tyre, need to drive it harder or pull some camber out, unless that is tread pattern from new?

*waits for Gibbo to post screaming V8*

I can oblige:

Four years on and still love this car, I'd never dream of fitting an exhaust though, yes I would argue the correct system does enhance the sound but with several negatives, around 10k expense, volume at 11+ and have to run catless and that is just not for me especially on a 150k plus car, I even know friendly MOT places but I just don't see the point, I've never been unsatisfied with the noise it delivers stock, it is so musical and sounds so much better than the newer V6/V8 Ferrari is churning out, only bettered by the V12's and those won't be around much longer and NA.

However it is hard to beat this for pure motorsport sound:

That is why GT4 RS sounds so good, same engine pretty much, but in the GT4 RS the engine is both closer to your head and Porsche put the intake system right next to the driver so the in cabin sound is incredible, aka M3 CSL as Porsche were like sod it we don't care if its too loud inside, the wimps can buy a regular GT4, basically Porsche with their latest RS cars have gone all out on them because I guess they could be the last NA RS cars they make potentially.

I'd buy a GT4 RS right now if I could at list price, but not possible and I can see them been sold for 250k plus when people start parting with them, maybe 300k and the new GT3 RS will surely be flipping for close to 500k.

P.S. A not so screaming V8 :D

Backed off due to cars emerging onto the track.

Don't want someone to pull left into my pathway as they exit the pits....

I know they've always been tough and nigh on unstoppable, but that new Range Rover is a mightily impressive piece of kit. Expensive though. And I agree with Chris Harris, the 1st/2nd generation Range Rovers are easily the best looking. Just need to retrofit all the gubbins from the new into the old and it would be my perfect vehicle.

Never liked the old Land Rovers, too "old man with a shotgun and pack of dogs on the way to hunt rabbits" vibes in styling, but that new one looks superb. Also looks superb with a bit of dirt all over it too - That's when you know styling has been nailed, when a car looks great clean, or dirty.
