Damn the back of the merc is strong.
This format does not work if there is no chemistry between the presenters and none are genuinely funny.
They should forget old top gear and become a serious car show.
Their presenting seems so wooden and unnatural.
I'm mean a serious car show without normal everyday family cars.Being a serious car show is exactly what made the original Top Gear unsuccessful. They aren't going to make that mistake again.
My gut feeling is that BBC have probably decided that this will be a last ditch effort, and if it fails (likely) they will probably concede and bin the show completely.
Why so desperate for it to fail? I agree they don't have the chemistry of Clarkson etc, but so far I'm finding it as enjoyable to watch as TGT, (which frankly I thought was a bit of an anticlimax). Personally I'm just happy to have two high budget car based entertainment shows to pick from now, one of them featuring a proper car journalist whom I've enjoyed watching for years.
It feels like they're trying to hold on to something that they should just let go of, it's frankly embarrassing. They lost Clarkson and with that, they lost Top Gear. The show evolved from humble beginnings as a serious car show in the 1970s to the extravaganza it became with Clarkson. There is nowhere for it to go now except down.
