I'm tempted to put Android on my Touchpad, will I be able to watch MKVs on it or has that feature not become available yet?
I "think" without being able to check, I have been playing them using Rockplayer.

Hardware acceleration is not working yet, so any hi-res videos will be basically unwatchable.
Is there an Android app like Kalemsoft that will stream directly from a NAS rather than having to have my PC on to transcode?

I probably won't be releasing alphas unless there is something very particular I want folks to test
Use a file explorer, I use ES File Explorer to navigate to the NAS (set up a server) and select the file. Then use Rockplayer to play it.
I use this method, let me know if you have issues.
So this method doesn't need a PC for transcoding? How does it cope with 1080/720 content though?
Where you read that?HD video decoding coming soon for CM9
Where you read that?
One of the developers posted a picture on twitter.
hopefully will be in the next couple of days. I love my ICS touchpad but I wish it would do video so I can watch 4od and iplayer
The guy who has it working has started uploading his changes so hopefully it shouldn't be too long before it's merged into CM9.A couple of people have said it could appear in a nightly soon, it's to do with an updated kernal, so good news
Hardware Video decoding was abandoned due to stability issues.
