The Touchpad Android thread

Anyone know how to uninstall for the CM9 alpha?

My Touchpad case has a few cracks beside the left speaker so most likely I will be sending it to HP for repair.

Don'nt even need to use acme for future updates, just plonk the update.zip on the touchpad , reboot the device into clockwork mod and use that to flash the update restart and bobs your uncle.

the developers say it's best to use ACME though as they can guarantee no issues with ACME.

also if you use ACME you dont need to delete data, etc to prevent issues from occurring, the developers advise if you update via CWM, that you should do a full wipe of everything in order to prevent conflicts.

Half bricked my TP doing this. Had an old CM7 install I forgot about and started messing around with trying to remove it the hard way.

Ran the WebOS doctor and all seemed fine. Went to copy files to cminstall and it said disk needed formatting. Stupidly clicked ok and formatted the disk in windows. Killed the SD card partition and then spent 5 hours on google and using novacom and novaterm to reset all the stores and logical partitions back up the hard way.

Got it flashed back into 3.0.5 WebOS and did a clean CM9 install.

Happy days it works great :)

I am pretty sure you could have still just use the Doctor on it without all that messing around? #couldbewrong

(is using twitter hash tags in posts as annoying as it seems?)

I tried 3 (3.0.0, 3.0.4 and 3.0.5) versions of Doctor. They all got stuck at 12%.

Running the doctor through command line to get a view of the progress and it was coming up with cluster out of range errors in the recovery partitions. In order to repair I had to remove all logical partitions from the store and recreate. Then had to reset the file system to F32 with a few switches and ensure that ignore errors was disabled.

Then had to flash to 3.0.0 to restore the partitions and let it complete using the doctor. then flashed again to 3.0.5 with the doctor and let it complete.

After I had a standard TP I then did the CM9 install from scratch and it worked fine :)

Whilst the WebOS doctor is a great of kit, it does not always work and there are a lot of people out there getting stuck at 12% once they break the SD partition.

As annoying as it was, it was quite fun to learn something new :)

the thing which took me the most time was trying to run webos doctor from command line. No matter what I was typing I just couldnt run it. So I just tried to run it normally
When I ran nova term everytime I typed a letter it would error and I had to click ignore and when I finally typed in the command it didnt work. I thought it was because I wasnt running Webos doctor through command line I spent hours searching the net trying to figure out how to run Webos doctor through command line and was just about to give up when I decided to try nova term again after a reset. It was still coming up with the same error when I typed each letter but I carried on and it worked so it must have been me typing in the command in nova term wrong the first time I tried it.

Having some major issues with Wi-fi last night. It disconnected and just would not connect again. Anyone else having major issues? Does forcing the wireless AP onto a single channel rather than auto really do much?

Loving CM9 and the apps and feel but without wireless its kind of pointless.

Did you check your wireless router was functional?

I had the same issue recently but it wasn't a problem with the wireless on the touchpad. My laptop and WDS setup couldn't connect either. I had to reboot my wireless router.

Hadn't had the issue before so I was thinking somehow CM9 crashed the router?

Hadnt checked. Laptop was downstairs and I was in bed. Would be surprised if it crashed the router out but stranger things have happened. Will check tonight. All desktops in the house are hard wired so chances are internet is still working there and the other half wont check for me.

Can anyone recommend a decent Exchange email app for this? My standard "Mail" app appears to have gone missing so relying on 3rd party.

I have installed one called Touchdown but they want around £15 for a license.

I dont use my TP at work very often but when I bring it in it is nice to have calendar etc available from exchange.

Am also gutted as I dropped it over the weekend and have now cracked the case near one of the speakers. Time to break out the glue and try and fix it. :(

I think I'm going to wack ICS on my touchpad tonight.

When newer versions come out is it relatively simple to just flash over the top? Also, does it save your settings or does it essentially factory reset every time you flash it?
