The Turing RTX 2080 Ti Owners Thread

Typically I dont care squat about warranty as the usual rule of thumb with pc electronics is if it makes it through 3 months then it will make it a decade. You could argue warranty adds resale value but when I sold my out of warranty 1070 palit card, I didnt struggle to get my asking price.

I expect many RMA's are owner fault linked after that 3 month period like bad overvolting etc. or failed mod's that sort of thing.

However this 2000 series of cards is different there seems to be genuine silicon issues which would make me super paranoid about warranty on these cards. Although personally I am staying well away from turing.

Im curious to know how the boost works?

I am running the evga ftw3 373w bios. Have the core set to +95 which results in a boost clock of 2115 max temp after 2hr gaming was 38.
However, what confuses me is the clock will run at 2115 80% of the time, then clock down to 2100 for the other 20%. I dont know why. Itll hold 2115 at 38 but sometimes clock down at 34, so this doesnt show thermal stepping. At the same time as the clock down the gpu power usage is roughly 80 percent, far from the power limit.
Then itll clock back up to 2115 even if the temp has risen a couple of degrees and the power usage bobs betweens 70-85.
I can run higher than 2115. Eg 2160, but then temps rise to 45 and here is where i see the thermal step. Also at 2160 i will step down a couple because of voltage/power limit at times (power % between 100-126). Combined with the thermal step, this can actually bring it down to 2115 at times.

My goal is to hold a steady clock. Maybe 2160 that bobs up and down between 2160 and 2115 with a thermal step down or two will give me an extra frame or two. But id much rather see a straight 2115.

Which 2080Ti do you have? I've got the Galax 360W BIOS on a Zotac AMP.

Didn't think the FTW3 was a reference PCB, unless you actually have a FTW3?

It is a founders edition. The bios version I flashed is 90.02.0B.40.4C.

I don't think the FTW3 is reference, but I saw a lot of people say it worked for them. I tried and not had any problems.

Cheers, might give it a go myself. (I’ll do some research first)

The Zotac cooling seems pretty good but I think I’ll take it easy on air. Had good results with the Galax BIOS.

Ill probably give the galax bios a go at some point. Maybe it will hold the 2115 permanently, as im well within power and temp limits.

I’ve had a look on TPU and all I can see are BIOS’s 90.02.0B.40.89 or B6. Where did you download it from?

I just looked and see that the one I downloaded was in TPU unverified section. I used this one as it was the one being by used by others in the place I read about it and I followed the link.

Brave man flashing an unverified BIOS. :D

Thanks for the info though. I thought about the FTW3 BIOS before I opted for the Galax.

What do I do, the rainforest still has a date of 11th Dec - 18th Jan for my 2080 Ti Strix, do I just dump it and get a Zotac AMP! now? Save £150 too plus 5 years warranty and its still quiet.

Performance wise these cards are very similar, the biggest difference being noise levels for the same clocks.

Tired of waiting on the Strix. One of the things important to me was fan shutdown at idle. So I bagged myself the MSI 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio. Arrives Friday.
