The Turing RTX 2080 Ti Owners Thread

If you are going to stick a waterblock on it does an FE not make more sense as they are cheaper to start with?

I don’t get how the black edition isn’t FE

Black edition cost me £1050 there so called founders edition cards are £1206 and £1250 and the ftw3 edition is £1400 so why not pay £150 more over there FE ?

So there not cheaper to start with

Black edition isn't an "A" chip so lower clocks compared to FE.

Thanks for the input I didn’t know that

I just went off people saying “if you’re putting a waterblock on it get the cheapest”

I won’t be doing that again or using my iPhone to look at the ek gpu compatibility list :p

Just ordered a Palit 2080ti from OCUK. Couple of questions if I may;

1 - Why is it quite a bit cheaper than the other brands?
2 - What sort of overclock is to be expected? I'm not planning on water cooling this time round.

The minimum fan speed on my RTX 2080Ti is a little louder than I would like, years ago I used to purchase Artic Cooling HSF to fit to my graphics card to improve on the stock ones. Without going to water is there any sensible ways to change the fans and cooler?

bear in mind a waterblock doesnt necessarily mean power delivery etc. doesnt matter, the higher priced cards usually have better components than FE, not just about the cooling although no idea if these better components actually mean much in the real world tho.

I assume if they were receiving binned silicon from Nvidia they would be shouting about it as a feature.

In which case it is as everyone else here is saying: the overclock will be largely limited by the silicon lottery.

True, but unless their binning process makes a big difference, we're still talking about a marginal increase in performance for a probably not very marginal increase in cost. If it gets too expensive then it'll just make more sense to go with a retail Titan RTX for those of us without LN2 coming out of our ears.

well it's THE kingpin, if they released it without a custom BIOS or some really easy and amazing modding potential it would just be some overpriced turd...

BTW is there any info out on 2080Ti shunt mods? ik bz theorized on a way to control voltage and LLC, but i just needed a few mV to reach my GPUs power limit, also don't want to mod that far....yet XD

The above just about sums up the Kingpin 1080 Ti.

and it made sense, it was a pretty cool card that with a custom loop had amazing potential; if they do the same this gen it'll be quite interesting! i just don't get why they go so far with the heatsinks and whatnot since imho most users will put it on a waterblock or use exotic cooling right out the box....
