***The Unofficial Samsung Galaxy S III LTE (I9305) Thread***

stoosh! where you at man :p

Guys...does this sound okay:

I'm getting quite a few wakelocks, so I'm going to do a full format and a clean install so my plan is:

a). on the current install (v5.7) - I'm just going to fully format both internal+external sd cards, just storage are not ROM space - ( will the ROM still function ok if I do this)
b). just copy Pandoriam 5.7 zip to internal memory + my titanium backup to the ext sd card.
c). go into CWM - Do a full wipe/cache everything....
d). install Pandoriam 5.7
e). restore my most used apps - just a handful.
f). monitor battery performance for a couple of days and then install more apps slowly.

Quick firmware question, which I hope isn't too noobish. :o My LTE is an ee device, bought from someone on Gumtree who didn't want the upgrade (they already had an iPhone 5 and used my £300 to pay off their contract). I've just had the notification that the new firmware is available (T-mobile basically) though servers are so busy atm that it's not getting anywhere in downloading.

I don't want to root or flash custom ROMs (yet?) as I'm quite new to the whole thing and just learning about the whole process by playing with ROMs on a cheap Galaxy Mini. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 does run CWR and SungsonicHD though. :D The only 'tweak' I made was to buy a network unlock code so I can move to my Three pay monthly SIM (paid to avoid rooting for a manual unlock).

Anyway, is there any benefit to flashing the device through Odin to have a stock/non-network firmware? Will the OTA updates come through quicker direct from Samsung without relying on ee/T-mobile to tweak and release the updates? From what I know so far I'm under the impression that if I do a stock firmware flash via Odin it WON'T trip the flash binary counter, and will still show as an unaltered stock device? Can anyone please confirm this? Thanks. :)

I believe your correct, I don't think it will trigger the binary counter.

I'm not so sure as to OTA's once you've flashed via Odin. For me, I've always flashed updates myself via Odin from leaks, so I've never had an OTA that's more recent than I already have on my phone...

@Kona

How does the rock quicksand case feel compared to the MAO finish on the one S? And how does it compare to the diztronic matte TPU case?

Do you think it would make the one S feel nicer/more comfortable to hold than the diztronic and when the phone is "naked"?

What about sweaty hands (:p :o) and marks etc.?

Can finally buy one, which is based in the UK for a pretty good price:

Just don't want to buy it and then end up not using it after 1 week like with my 3 other cases :p :o

Pffft! @ Rock/MAO....slick & shiny plastic is where it's at :D:p

Rock case is cool - feels and looks nice while adding protection. I prefer the bare feel of a phone as it feeling slimmer and smoother and just nicer in general.

No fingerprints on the rock case show up. HTH. :)

I use mine without a case at the moment - just a sleeve when it's in my pocket.

Guys - I'm in the process of trying a DPI per app mod out - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081

Looks super-cool. May aswell try it before I format.

Thanks :)

Tough decision as I do love the one S "naked" but really do want some protection from drops (when I read about people dropping their phones and then ending up with a big crack on the screen, it makes me worry about it happening to mine :().... The diztronic case is nice looking and definitely the best for complete protection imo but I don't like the feel of it (compared to the MAO) and the way it takes away the sleek design of the front :( With the rock case going by what everyone here thinks, it sounds like my main 2 dislikes wouldn't be as much of a problem with the rock case but then the top and bottom are still exposed.....

Might just go for it anyway.

What colour did you get? Could you post the link to your photos of the GS 3 with the rock case again please :)

I think it's definitely worth tryng out the rock case - sounds like it would suit your needs.

No probs. That's the fake rock case below - light grey. Feels as good if not better than the original rock case. I have both.

Thanks again :)

Unfortunately I can only find the genuine (well I think it is genuine anyway.....) version :p

The grey case looks great with blue/grey GS 3 but not sure how it would look with the one S, so best to just stick with black probably :p

Will have a think about it and give my diztronic case a go again.

EDIT:

Just been trying the diztronic out again and I can't keep it on! :p :o Also it makes cleaning the screen harder. So now just to decide about the rock case. Wish there were a lot more photos of it on a S :(

Guys - with ripper rom - how do you get JB DOM theme working? Do you need to have jkay installed?

Anyone tried wanamlite?

Hmm, I have Jkay installed, then installed JB Dom from the JKay mods. I'm sure there's a regular JB Dom download, as I did that one once by mistake.

Ok thanks Andy - is jkay straight forward to use - and stable?

Also when you get a chance can you post a screen shot of your battery graph after prolonged use - like below or similar:

Just want to see how well your phone/rom sleeps when screen is off.

^^^ Thanks again.

Here are the BBS showing the wakelocks I've been having:

2.9hrs awake vs 1.5hrs screen on time - that sucks.
