So, after some more time with the IPV D2, I have some further observations.
The deck at the top has become scratched up by repeated removal of tanks. You don't see it of course with a tank attached but it's annoying when I look at the mod without a tank on.
The accelerator on the settings when holding down the buttons is way, way too fast. It goes slow for about 1 second then goes super fast. It makes changing settings a bit of a pain as you just end up repeatedly clicking and going up or down in 0.1W increments.
I love the sliding door as it makes changing batteries so much faster than with the SX or VT40. The mod will still stand upright without a battery in and with the door removed.
The battery bay is big enough to take the longer, button-top VTC4s that don't fit in my SX or VT.
TC works absolutely faultlessly. It works as well as it does on the SX-Mini and that is high praise indeed as the SX is the benchmark.
I love the size. Not too big and not too small. Feels weighty in the hand.
It's now my ADV as it's really just that good. So good in fact that I've ordered another one.

he wants one that is big, has lcd screen and it he needs an atty that will also compliment it. The atty needs to be easy to fill and I can rebuild coils for him and produces lots of vapour. I don't mind clones since he is useless and will probably break or lose it after a month.
